We're using original molds off of the 1966 Batmobile and rebuilding an exact replica for parades and for events.
Like many, I look back fondly on the days I would hear "Pow!", "Wham!", and "Boom!" as Batman and Robin took down bad guys on television. Not only were they top crimefighters, they had the greatest car ever invented; the Batmobile!
Through chance encounters and random emails, I found the prop-maker that built the batmobile for the reunion movie "Return to the Batcave" with Adam West and Burt Ward. He has the original molds taken off of the television batmobiles and even used to be a traveling Batman double decades ago.
I am going to track down a car to act as the base, fly down to Tampa and pickup the molds/pieces/equipment from him, and drive back home to begin building the Batmobile. Much of the fiberglassing work, painting, welding has been lined up already. I am looking to raise the funds to be able to purchase the equipment and parts from the prop-maker and bring them back home to get to work.
Once it's built, we can use the Batmobile to bring a sense of joy to people who remember that bygone era of fun and adventure. To this day, kids instantly recognize the Batmobile, and we can use it for kids events and area charities as well.
Rewards start with being able to see our progress with blog, photo, and video updates and culminate in the chance to drive the Batmobile!
