Who we are.
VALLETO is a New York-based contemporary dance theater company led by Mexican American choreographer Valeria Yvette Gonzalez. Her inquiry in gender equality, freedom of expression, sexism, and diversity were crucial to founding VALLETO in 2014.
VALLETO is now a sought out emerging dance theater company whose MISSION is to empower women and unify diverse artists. VALLETO is an all female company with diverse backgrounds who explore what the unconscious mind hides inside the body, while creating an open space devoted to female empowerment and equality for all. Our process begins as a playground for senses, imagination, identity and politics explored through a magnifying glass; our detailed movement language describes femininity, tension, intimacy, impulse, raw emotions, and self-awareness . VALLETO narrates different topics in an abstract or humorous way to reveal the relationship between the body, the objective reality and the unconscious mind in this new digital era.
Our performances and initiatives aim to inspire, impact, and empower the global unheard voices of the current millennium. Past work has explored the complexities of female body and soul IN(touch), domestic violence all women in me are, Brooklyn nightlife and humanity (un.hide) emptiness, addiction and isolation in the digital age #VOIDS, and the inmaterial and spiritual part of being a human being (SOS).
In past seasons, we have performed to sold out audiences in venues like the East Village's Kraine Theater and Brooklyn's Center for Performance Research. We were selected to participate in HERE Arts Soho's “Sublet Series,” and have interacted with our community through site specific performances in Washington Square Park. In our future, VALLETO has been selected to perform in Triskelion Arts's "Split Bill Series" in October 2018.

Why we need your support.
VALLETO is now in its fifth season. Our latest work, "SOS," has been in process for over a year in collaboration with Composer Madeleine Cocolas and Costume Designer Cassie Mills. And we have been able to show "SOS" as a work in progress last November at Gibney Dance. Our next work in progress takes place as this campaign runs on June 16th, 2018 at CPR Center for Performance Research at 7pm.
SOS, is a multi-sensory, evening-length work that explores the spiritual and immaterial world of human beings, set in an uncharted, otherworldly space full of lost, unrecognizable memories that create chaos as the show evolves.
In this crucial time we need your support!
We need to raise funds to be able to continue creating for SEASON 5 and to be able to make SOS bigger production a dream come true. We have been in process and now we are ready to incorporate set design and to perform for bigger audiences. The funds will cover costs such as artist fees, costume design, music composition, studio rentals, theater rental, tech fees, designer fees, travel fees, videography, marketing, set design, photography. But most importantly it will help VALLETO to continue creating and making a difference!
Each season has been made possible through generous contributions to our crowdfunding campaigns. We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received so far; without you, VALLETO would not have been able to impact communities in the ways it already has!
In order to broaden our impact and continue to present innovative, transformative work, we seek your support to see our SOS through its final stages and make our fifth season possible.
EVERY DONATION IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE!

How you can support us.
Your support will help us to fund studios rentals for our rehearsals, cover production costs, and, most importantly, provide compensation to our talented artists for their dedication and work.
Dance is an incredibly expensive enterprise trapped in the unfortunate state of systematic underfunding. For every contribution made, however, we promise to give back to our community ten-fold. Art is needed more than ever in our world today, especially that which speaks up for those voices which have been silenced.
There are many ways to become involved in the VALLETO community. Donate to our campaign, attend our events, subscribe to our newsletter, or purchase one of our new t-shirts. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and don't forget to spread the word!
From all of us at VALLETO, we thank you for your interest and generosity.
Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges we face towards the future is not being able to continue creating ! VALLETO is in a crucial time in which we truly depend on the support of the community that has believed in us and new communities! This campaign will go towards rewarding dancers and collaborators for their continued hard work with VALLETO, as well as renting studio space to continue the rehearsal process and develop work for following seasons. The campaign is also for administrative and marketing promotions, so that we can create a wider audience and community within the New York City art world. Without your generous support, we will not be able to continue all that VALLETO is.
Thank you for considering our project, and many many thanks for those who contribute to keeping VALLETO alive.
all our love,
