I am creating a non-traditonal vegetarian/vegan cookbook that sprouted up organically in my own kitchen as a result of awesome recipes that would arise partly from creativity and partly necessity.
This is not only a cookbook but a comprehensive guide to greener, cleaner, healthier and more affordable food.
Since my recipes are usually spontaneous, I wanted to develop a way of being able to reproduce them (for myself and my friends). So my roommate and I came up with an idea to make a "running cookbook." The idea was to write down the recipes I always make so anyone I know can make them and leave a vast amount of blank pages upon which new recipes can be written.
I bound my own notebook and every time a recipe would be born I would jot it down along with a wacky little illustration.
It was later that I realized that my cooking experience spanned from apprenticing in my grandmother's kitchen to a convent kitchen in Sri Lanka and I felt I would like to share this experience with a larger audience.
The recipes in this book are a result of my Sicilian-American upbringing, my travels around the globe and my vegetarian diet. Therefore, the pallet I am working with is wide and eclectic.
