Thanks for taking an interest in my Kickstarter!
STRETCH GOALS NOW ADDED AT THE BOTTOM!!!
It's amazing and completely overwhelming to have exceeded our funding goal in under 24 hours!
I want to take this chance to thank and credit the series artist Nushie for all the hard work she's put into the series! You can find her website in the project links. Thank you so much. Also just to clarify all the posters that are sent out will be signed by both Nushie and me.
As I celebrate the start of The Last Prophecy series with the release of the Well of Youth, I have set this project up to produce hard copies for those of you who have supported me throughout the years, and those that will come.
In 2014 I started writing a story. It had airships and adventure, heroes and villains, whilst something worse slunk in the shadows...
When I started to pen out the novel I realised it was part of a greater story, one I felt compelled to write out and when I planned it all there were ten books and eleven novellas in the saga. By the time I finish I will have written close to 2 million words.
But we are still at the beginning and I have a long way to go.
I wrote and self published the first two novellas, after studying the market and realising that I could do this myself online, and have managed to sell the novellas in the thousands.
Now it is time to release the first book, and it is such an achievement I wanted to something more with The Well of Youth, for myself and those who have supported me.
In preparation for the book launch on October 14th 2017, this project was developed so that I could hold several years work in my hands, and give it to others.
The purpose of this Kickstarter is not to "sell" the book. I am first and foremost an e-book author and intend to remain so. This project is to give those who've come to love my work the chance to hold a copy in their hands along with me.
We'll have several copies in hardback and softback edition with personal thanks to all of you who help make this work become a reality. I am most looking forward to when I can put my book on the bookshelf next to the authors I so admire.
Just for taking an interest in this Kickstarter we've included the blurb for the Well of Youth for the first time as a special part of its launch:
Grateful to be leaving the deathbed of his estranged father behind, Andy Morzov wants nothing more than to return to Amphion University to submit his thesis to his mentor Professor Nick Holloran. Instead, he discovers the professor missing – possibly dead – while on a secret mission for the Illisian government.
If Andy hopes to find Nick, he must join the renowned Captain Salisbury in retracing Nick's steps on a quest to the Frozen Isles for the fabled site of Shaifalway, the Well of Youth. With Salisbury advising Andy not to go, he starts to question the government’s motives. Andy soon discovers that there’s something wrong in the archaeological papers the professor left behind. And for good reason, for the translation speaks of a darkness, an evil within the hearts of man, and the Well is only a small part of what is to come.
As he boards the ice-breaking behemoth, the Juggernaut, on her quest north, Andy realises that his life is now in danger. He must tread carefully, lest his motives to save Nick – if he is still alive – come into question. In the midst of his growing doubts, arises the question as to the Well’s authenticity. After all, what lengths would the leaders of Illisa go for immortality?

Other copies of the books will be used on the day of the launch to help celebrate by giving six copies away, three to physical attendees, and three to online attendees. There will also be several copies going to local libraries.
Printing is being completed by Ingram Spark, who support self-publishing and provide a cost effective solution for authors like me. The books will be delivered to my home, where I will distribute copies to those of you who have helped me make it this far.
Thanks again for checking out my project, and I hope you can support me in making this a reality!
Stretch Goal 1: $4000 - Everyone will be invited to tune into a "webcast with the author", where I will discuss the inspiration for the stories and the creative process I go through when writing. People can ask questions but to manage numbers we may need to limit some viewers to messaging questions rather than voice. Also all backers will receive either a digital version or print of an ADDITIONAL poster! *Printed version to backers who pledged over the $35 for reward tier.
Stretch Goal 2: $7500 - We'll be improving the posters' definition and increasing the size of the printed posters to A2 (if A3 is preferred then backers can opt out), and including an additional A5 print of the Last Prophecy poem, signed by the author!
Stretch Goal 3: $10,000 - All the series artwork will be included in the digital and print versions of the books as an appendix! Series Artist Nushie will join in the webcast to discuss how she brings the authors vision to life and her creative process. And a separate coffee table book featuring a selection of Nushie's artwork will be made available in digital and print version! *Printed version to backers who pledged over the $50 for reward tier. This goal will take longer to develop and we aim for delivery in December 2017!
Risks and challenges
Over the years I have had my family and friends be so helpful and supportive of my passion, and more recently the readers who have come to love my work. I want to give something back to them and to myself as a reward for all that work.
The book launch event is being planned independently of the publishing of the book, hence this Kickstarter. The funds raised will go towards the design cost of the poster, and printing of the posters and hard copies. Any leftover proceeds from the project will be used towards the launch itself, towards printing additional copies for giveaways and donations to local libraries, and marketing to help spread the story and gain more readers for the Last Prophecy series. It is first and foremost for giving out hardcopies to all the wonderful backers, no matter where in the world they are.
The project goal only needs to be modest as I'm doing this for the love of self-publishing, and only need to cover the costs of the actual printing and postage. The more people who back me, the cheaper the cost per printed book, so there's considerable scope that if the total achievement is big, we can deliver big on the stretch goals.
The only real risk is time. Working full time job with several other projects in development or editing I will be relying on the support from my husband and family to help pack and ship. My editor and artist will make sure that everything still to be developed gets out in the timeframe we promised.
The publishing is being done through Ingram Spark, who support self-publishing all the time and have an excellent reputation in the author community. So, very little risk that the printer will have any significant issues delivering once the Kickstarter is finished. It has been timed down so that we will have the hard copies in time for the launch itself.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
