On the evening of WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2017 at approx. 18:00, Det. Spencer received a 10-45 calling for all units to report to the intersection of two unnamed channel roads (approx. 34.6868° N, 118.1542° W).
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders note that a young female, 25 years in age, appeared to be stranded in the harsh desert climate on the outskirts of Oswald County proper. She had sustained defensive injuries and extensive sunburns from her exposure to the elements, and upon initial questioning, one paramedic described the female's answers as "completely incoherent."
Conducting a thorough search of the surrounding area, officers discovered a hole (approx. 6' in diameter, and 6' feet deep). The coroner's office describes a second victim (John Doe) recovered at the scene, 1 male (approx. 22-28). No positive identification has been found for John Doe. Dental records pending.
Not far from the scene were tire tracks (all-terrain, estimated: 265/70R17) leading back to the main road, 107th Avenue. According to information gleaned from initial contact with the female victim, the vehicle belonging to the assailant is a red pickup truck.
Recovered at the scene: a sole cigarette butt and a rusted tire iron covered in what appears to be dried blood.
One suspect is in custody.

This investigation won't pay for itself!
Our budget accounts for location permits to accurately replicate the harsh desert climates called for in the script. Additionally, we will be paying our talent for this project, as the intensity of the subject matter requires focus that should be reserved for the performance alone... and not on how to pay for cat food and toilet paper. We will also require an RV for cast and crew to rest and refuel between takes. Our budget also accounts for SFX makeup, equipment insurance, food, sound mixing, set design, post-production mixing, and other incidental costs (gas, creature comforts, etc.).
