What is By Order of the Queen?
By Order of the Queen is a 2-4 player cooperative fantasy RPG-lite board game that plays in 90-120 minutes. Players take on the role of a Guildmaster of the Kingdom of Tessandor. There are so many heroes wanting to help the Queen that the guilds have been tasked with assigning heroes to protect the Kingdom as they see fit.
I designed By Order of the Queen with these three principles in mind:
- Simple Game Mechanics
- Strong Strategic Gameplay
- Epic Story-driven Fantasy RPG Setting
What this has resulted in is a game I can play with my two young daughters, teaching them about strategy as they read the cards and get enthralled in the story. By Order of the Queen is also a game that I can bring out at the office to play with my veteran gamer friends, as we work together to keep the Kingdom of Tessandor from falling apart.
The Lore of Tessandor:
Here is our Sample PDF of our Lore of Tessandor Book. Although By Order of the Queen is not just for kids, we thought it would be fun to create something similar to a coloring book and pack it full of lore:
We are going with the same manufacturer we went with in our last game, JunKing. You can expect the same level of quality and attention to detail as our other projects. The artwork that Justin Hillgrove and Zachary Vail created for this game is incredible. The backs and fronts of every card have been hand drawn by our artists and graphic designer.
All Backers of a physical copy of By Order of the Queen will get the Implands Crossover Expansion for free along with their Pledge. The Expansion includes Alternate Art Heroes and additional Location cards. Any Stretch Goals unlocked will be given to all backers.
Players will draw a hand of heroes and take turns assigning them to quests, combat, or completing the orders of the Queen. As time passes the kingdom falls further into darkness, so players must work together to complete the Queen’s perfect plan to secure Tessandor’s future.

Junk Spirit Games successfully launched JunKing in 2015 through Kickstarter. We had a fun time creating, playtesting and producing JunKing but the real fun came when we reached out to the community to share our passion for gaming. The reception we've received has been overwhelming and we are excited to continue our work in this industry.
David Gerrard owned and operated a brick and mortar game store enabling him to essentially play games for 12-14 hours a day for over 8 years. He has worked with Sabertooth Games and Microsoft in the past and brings his experience and pragmatic dedication to this project.
Justin Hillgrove has been able to do a lot of amazing things as an artist – to name a few he has painted murals for Facebook in Seattle and London, worked on toys with The Coop, Rampage Toys & Funko, and created covers for Cartoon Network‘s “Adventure Time” comic, in addition to all of his own well-known creations and exhibitions. Travis Torgerson, our graphic designer, has worked in licensed product development for brands like Adventure Time, Star Trek, and The Walking Dead. He loves typography, playing card games, and drinking copious amounts of black coffee.
Zachary Vail is a graphic designer with over 20 years experience. We've brought him on board to help in making the card backs for By Order of the Queen along with the game board and many of the icons and other illustrations.
We will be using multiple fulfillment centers in key areas of the world for shipping By Order of the Queen. By shipping this way, your game will be sent to you from within your country, eliminating the need for you to pay taxes or VAT fees. Keep in mind that By Order of the Queen will weigh around 2.3 kilos. Junk Spirit Games is paying a large portion of the shipping as a promotion for our campaign.
During the JunKing campaign we saw some.....interesting.... things that retailers had to deal with when trying to carry JunKing and as a previous store owner I feel your pain.

Risks and challenges
This is our second game and our third kickstarter campaign, we feel confident that this campaign to release By Order of the Queen will be result in this game in your hands. Our team has experience in creating toys, art, books and games. I have participated in multiple kickstarters and one thing that brings me almost as much happiness as having the product in hand is when the team is extremely communicative about what is going on in the campaign. I’m sure you've all had similar experiences as well. We are committed to being very open about our process.
As with turning any idea into a physical object, any number of problems can get in the way. While we can’t control everything, we can control our communication to our backers. Delays may happen, dates may change. But, we will definitely let our backers know what is going on and keep everyone in the loop.
