Hello friends! We're Etchr Lab, the company dedicated to creating carry for artists...possibly one of the most neglected niches in the history of neglected niches. We think you deserve better.
Welcome to our second Kickstarter! We've worked hard to get here and we hope you dig it.
It's our pleasure to introduce our brand new products...the Etchr Art Satchel & Field Case, specifically designed for artists to create anywhere more painlessly...again!
Check out some of the press we've had on our products - unlike most Kickstarter projects, we've been busy getting prototypes into the hands of reviewers and great artists who offer their opinions so that you can make a more informed choice before pledging!
The following review links may help you in deciding whether to pledge - please note that none of the reviewers were paid for their segments:

Regular bags just don't cut it for artists - we have too many specific needs and until now, they've rarely been addressed. We believe artists deserve better carry and we feel up to the task!

Of all the things we could have poured our collective energy into...why art bags? Well, to us they’re more than that.
Our mission from the start has been to improve the world in which we live by hatching more inspiring art into existence through crafting and delivering quality products that make the lives of artists a little easier.
This of course begs the question - Does art actually make the world better? Does it even matter anymore? Did it ever?
Art reflects our thoughts. Challenges our beliefs. Plumbs the depths of our desires. Our hopes. Our dreams. Kindles dormant emotions into explosive expression. Inspires us to do better. Connects us. Helps us make sense of the world we live in. To carry on.
We think it matters now more than ever.
Every day, we ask ourselves ‘How can we continue to support the creators who create?’ It‘s an evocative question that keeps us up at night.
So to answer the question, we’re not ‘just’ making art bags - we’re doing our best to leave the world in a better state than the one we found it in.
This quick and dirty explanation video was originally created to demonstrate the functionality of the products to early reviewers, but we thought it would be great to show it publicly to our backers to show how in-depth the product truly goes.
It's a 40 min video, so brew a coffee before watching!
Our estimated delivery time is December this year which breaks down into the following stages based on the conversations we have had so far:
Quick message from our CEO - please excuse his voice, he's still recovering from the flu.
We're a scrappy, rag-tag group of individuals who came together to turn something that was once nebulous stardust, into reality...and have fun along the way.
Risks and challenges
We put a lot of emphasis on risk mitigation to minimise the likelihood of any unexpected issues in delivering to our backers. Our vision is to create a brand known for its uniqueness, creativity but also for always putting its customers’ interests above all else. While it is not possible to predict and prepare for every unforeseen issue, you can trust that we will always be fully transparent and provide the greatest level of care and support from the moment your order is placed with us.
We have reviewed and categorised the common risks of Kickstarter campaigns into the following three categories. For each category, we have created a rigorous plan to ensure that the controllable and foreseeable risks are mitigated.
1. DELIVERY DELAY
Over the past few months, we have proactively engaged with multiple manufacturers, independent inspectors, shipping and fulfillment companies to understand their capabilities and track records. Darren and Yan, two of our Founders, actually made a trip to China as we felt certain things couldn’t be verified remotely. We can confidently say that based on what we know, we have selected the best in each cohort to ensure the risk of non-performance is minimised from our partners.
We have always used the conservative scenarios from our manufacturing and logistics providers to arrive at a very conservative overall delivery date estimate that we're confident in meeting. Don’t be surprised if you get your package ahead of our promised schedule and it is our preference to under-promise and over-deliver rather than the other way around.
2. COST OVERRUN AND PROJECT FEASIBILITY
Our Founders have extensive experience in finance and business management and have worked with leading global companies on their project budget planning and roll-out process to ensure on budget and on time delivery. We’ve also gone a long way with our prototyping, to the point where our two products are essentially ready to manufacture. While it is possible for final manufacturing and logistics costs to differ slightly from our quotes, we do not anticipate any material deviation to our project budget.
In short, if the project funds you WILL get your Art Satchel and Field Case!
3. PRODUCT QUALITY & DEFECTS
We know our products are a big investment for many people. We want quality and longevity to become synonymous with our brand. In short, we don’t take quality lightly :)
During the design process Darren and Andy our designers, have tested multiple materials and components together with our manufacturer and have used those that provide the best results while still making the production cost commercially viable. We believe all the materials used are durable and we will include all the detailed specifications into our manufacturer agreement to safeguard product quality.
Without going into too much detail, you can be sure we’ve put in place a number of quality control safeguards right from the factory door to minimize potential product defects. On the off-chance your product is defective when you receive it and this defect is not caused by misuse please take a picture and contact us and we will be sure to replace it free of charge.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to us! We'll endeavor to answer your questions as quickly as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
