AVGhost: Paranormal Investigation is a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players, where you will take control of a team of paranormal investigators. All of them are part of a specialized agency that investigates and solves paranormal events and poltergeist. In the game, you will be hired by several people with issues, who will request you to cleanse their homes from troublesome ghosts and spirits. AVGhost Includes 6 different cases to investigate, with a total duration of nearly 30 hours of gameplay. The game is designed to be played in the dark, with support from a digital APP that will reveal clues, add background music and will startle you with the sounds and voices from different paranormal events. But you may also play with the lights on and without the APP, by using the investigation booklet to completely replace the digital APP.
HOW TO PLAY?
AVGhost is divided in two main phases:
First goes the meeting phase, when the players will open and examine the case’s file (each case includes its own folder), where they will find information, inserts and other details to examine. Your client’s first statement to the agency is also included here. Within all this information, your team will receive clues to help you decide how to investigate the haunted site. You will also find numbered overhead transparencies, to place on the different boards.
As an example, if your client says “I’ve heard voices in the bedroom”, it is quite likely that your team needs to place an audio recording device in the bedroom. At first, during the first cases, these clues will be easier to spot.
Once the players have decided which gadgets to use and where, place the appropriate tokens on the board. The meeting phase represents the first visit to the site, during daytime, and the placement of all the gear to start the investigation.
When using the APP, you will need to mark which characters are in play, the gear they are using to search for clues, and the place where said gear is placed. Then, after this selection, the APP will show a “Start” button.
This is the time for you to turn off the lights in the room, and to turn on the flashlights of your investigators.
And with this you will start the second phase of the game: the investigation. The players will have to check their gear and see if it collected any information.
Once the player reaches the place where their gear is, check the APP to see the results. If you hear an audio after pressing an investigator’s button, be it the investigator’s voice narrating what it’s witnessing or a recording from your gear, that will mean you found a clue. On the contrary, if you didn’t place the right gadget in the correct location, you will hear static, meaning that you did not find anything. In this case, the APP will open again, giving you the chance to change your gear.
During the game, you will have 3 different investigation lines to follow and solve each case. First, you will have to find individual clues, after placing your gear. Second you will have to look for the numbered clues in the different locations and objects on site. By investigating these clues you will get new information and find new places to search. In most cases, you will have to go to choose from two possible paths. These clues (which can be consulted again after revealing them) will tell you the complete story of the case you are investigating. Finally, the APP will trigger random paranormal events (in the spirit of horror movie scares) which will surprise and even startle you. You will also have to solve these events to finish the investigation.
This way, once you’ve found the 4 audio clues (depending on the case), found every correct numbered clue on the board and solved every paranormal event, the case will be solved and the site cleansed.
Flashlight color filters:
The bases of the investigator miniatures include a mount to place different color filters, to change the light you are using. These filters will be essential to banish the ghosts you will meet. Each color affects a different type of ghost. Switch your flashlight filter during the game to banish every one of them. You will also need these filters to reveal different clues, since many of them are only visible under specific types of light. The investigators will find new filters while searching for clues or in hidden spots of the board.
Fear and flashlight battery tracks:
You will receive fear points on your character’s sheet when the ghosts appear before you, according to their type, your current flashlight filter, and if you are alone or not at that time. When your fear track reaches its peak, your investigator will fall into shock and will need the aid of an ally to recover.
The batteries in your flashlight will also run out with use, and sometimes will be affected in extreme ways when you meet ghosts. If an investigator runs out of batteries for their flashlight, the player will have to turn its flashlight off and wait for an ally to bring them new batteries. Batteries can be found in different places of the board, searching for clues, places or objects.
“Case: Grace” is an expansion that brings you a campaign formed by 3 cases. We must solve them in order to unveil the whole story and solve the mystery. This expansion is Kickstarter Exclusive.
In the Grace Case, our investigators will have to discover the truth of what happened in this strange case where secret services, spies, bizarre experiments, grotesque surgical practices, relics and occultism are involved. This expansion for AVGhost brings 10 more hours of gameplay. Aside from the 3 folders from each of the cases in this campaign, you will also get the miniature of the ghost Grace.

All campaigns and subsequent production has its risks. For this reason, we will have professionals in the industry produce AVGhost, located in the European Union.

We firmly believe that communication with you is extremely important, and we want to involve you in the project as much as possible.
