MathMonsterz: Making Math Fun for Kids
Kids struggle with math. Help us create an exciting new game that makes learning math a blast - AND BRINGS PARENTS AND KIDS TOGETHER!!
Let's face it, about half the kids throughout the world struggle with Math, maybe more. And almost no children WANT to study math. It starts at a young age, typically 3 or 4 years old. What if there was a better way to teach them - that they'd actually enjoy instead of feel like it is work or a burden.
MathMonsterz has created a way to make learning math exciting and fun! Read our founder son's story at the bottom.
Whether a child is 4 and is working on basic addition as simple as 2+2, or they are 11 and are doing fractions - it is critical that those basic tables and operations from 0-12 are memorized and can be remembered as quickly as we remember 2+2=4. You can help us bring this dream of helping children in the U.S. and beyond to love learning and practicing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
MATHMONSTERZ BRINGS PARENTS AND KIDS TOGETHER!
Most kids while learning their basic arithmetic tables look at it not fun, a a bad memory with their parents. It's a pain that they often feel forced to practice...and the person making them practice is their mom or dad. We are going to take this "bad memory" and bring the parent and child together.
With the MathMonsterz trading card game, kids can't wait to practice and play with their parents, teachers and friends! Imagine kids sitting across the table from dad or mom, having fun, laughing, learning math like the back of their hand and having cool "monster cards". And they aren't just learning math... they are also practicing reading and learning how to solve the word problems in the game.
WHY DO WE NEED THE HELP?
Their are 2 key parts to the MathMonsterz game. 1) The Monster Cards. We have that covered. 2) The mobile app. The funding that we receive from our Kickstarter project will go directly to being able to get the mobile game finished on iPhone and Android. The MVP (minimum viable product) for mobile will cost approximately $2,000. The more we raise we can use the funds to:
- Market to more school districts the benefits of promoting MathMonsterz
- Come out with new awesomely cool monsters
- Potentially take the mobile gaming experience for MathMonsterz to an entirely new level where kids can play with other kids remotely! Imagine your kids, or kids you know, wanting to play a game that teaches them math every single turn.
My Son's Story - From MathMonsterz™ Founder
Hi, my name is Kent and I am the Founder of MathMonsterz™. Let me tell you the inspiration behind our game: my 8-year-old son. Since Jax was 5, his mom had a hard time (that is understated) getting him to study math or learn his math tables. It effected his confidence in math during school and inhibited his desire to study which put him behind. He and I were sitting down playing another game and it hit me, "I can create a math game where kids WANT to practice & play. And MathMonsterz™ was born.
It's changed my son's confidence at school and his skill level. He has tested thru more multiplication tables in the last 4 weeks than he did in the first 5 months of the school year. MathMonsterz™ works! When we play he asks to answer more than he has to & practices with the app prior to us playing. We've turned what he felt was a chore and something he wasn't good at into a blast and something he excels at. And I'm confident it can do the same for your daughters and sons.
Risks and challenges
There are always challenges with projects. I was employee #2 and the 2nd in command at Metago - creator of the wildly successful Android app called ASTRO File Manager. When I came onboard at Metago the challenge was how to grow distribution and revenue. At the time in 2009 we had less than 500,000 installs and zero revenue. By the time I left Metago in 2014 we had over 100,000,000 (yes, 100MM installs) and had grown revenue from zero to 7-figures.
I say that not to brag. I try to be very humble. I say that to say that our very first project after receiving a series A round of funding faltered. But we got things on track for the company and the project and continued to sell more, distribute more, and create a better more robust product.
I don't foresee any risks. I have the rights, I have the designers, I have the developers (for mobile)...we just need the money to get those developers moving on the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
