“...this has the potential to become a cult classic… If you have the opportunity to see the film I thoroughly recommend you do so." IMDb review
"...for a fully independent film, it carries with it the respectability and charm of a potential cult following.” What Sie Says review
"Much silliness, drug references, the funny things that can happen, in the dark, in the Northumberland countryside add up to an enjoyable romp…" JoWhereToGo review
The Stagg Do is a low-brow comedy about three working class lads from Walker who want to take their mate, Staggy, on a surprise stag do at a glamourous “gentleman’s club” called The Cocks Inn. The only problem is that his posh bride-to-be hates his mates and insists that they bring her father, a right wing no-nonsense high-court judge, along for what she believes is a harmless camping trip. Now the lads must find a way to ditch the overbearing tyrant and make it to the club for “titties and beer” by midnight or miss out on the party of a lifetime.
Most of the film was shot in the summer of 2011, we edited it and shot additional scenes over the following year. The eclectic soundtrack is a mix of all genres and consists of unsigned bands mostly from the NE of England. Finally, on June 26, 2014, we held the world premiere at the o2 Academy Newcastle to a rowdy, near sell-out crowd.

Capitalising on the momentum generated from that brilliant event, we planned to have several more screenings in the North East; as well as around the UK, with the hope that we’d also have screenings in the USA in the near future, as well as a kick-ass DVD Launch Event in Walker. But, alas, these plans were put on hold at the end of last year, when we ran out of money.

In order to legally screen “The Stagg Do” in cinemas, other venues and to properly sell the DVD, we must have the film certified by British Board Of Film Classification (BBFC), which is HUGELY cost prohibitive, especially for a self-funded, self-distributed, independent film.
That’s why we’re asking for your help. From its inception four years ago, “The Stagg Do” was created in the true spirit of independent, grass roots filmmaking - a self-funded, micro-budget, North East comedy made with passion, teamwork, grit and at times, pure bloody-mindedness.
We wouldn’t want it any other way! Viva la revolution and all that. The hardest part of our journey is complete. We made the film! Now we’re inviting you all to join us on the final phase of our journey.
Let’s make this happen together.
As a wiser man than me once said: can we do it - yes we can!
Thank you,
James DeMarco, co-writer and director of The Stagg Do.

A FINAL THANKS TO YOU ALL
As penniless filmmakers we really do appreciate that in these ‘austere’ times it may be difficult for some folks to contribute any money to our cause, but please don’t let that stop you from being involved. We’d still love to have you on board.
If you don’t mind, please spread the word about our campaign - retweet it, share it, like it, email it, phone it - even write a letter to your MP or Congressman, if that’s your thing!
Or email us (thestaggdo@gmail.com) and we’ll send you a TSD avatar for your social media accounts - as the supermarket slogan goes “every little helps” (other supermarkets are available).
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit our page.
Risks and challenges
Like all independent filmmakers, investing our money in our projects is a leap of faith. We have made many sacrifices to get this far and we are willing to self finance this final stage, but at the rate we are going it could be a long while before we get there.
You see, without at least £2000 (yes TWO THOUSAND POUNDS) for the BBFC Certificate we won't be able to release the film in the UK, and we see the UK as the primary market for this film. If we don't meet our goal, we'll still bring this movie to you, but the crowdfunded money would make it much easier and quicker.
