Mythos Arcanum is a role-playing product that is both familiar and like no other. Combining the best part of Dungeons and Dragons and the heady, mind-blowing ideas behind perception and philosophy, Mythos Arcanum delivers not just a game, but an experience!
Created by Joe Aragon, Mythos Arcanum features art from classic artist Darlene, Rowena Aitken, Vaggelis Ntousakis along with artist Laura Siadak. Contributing game writers include author of Conan the role-playing game, Ian Sturrock, Hackmaster writer Tony DiGerolamo and game writer, Uri Kurlianchik.
Based in the world of Rochuron, Mythos Arcanum includes all the iconic fantasy characters including knights, wizards, clerics and thieves.They face off against classic monsters like skeletons, orcs, wraiths and dragons.
Then we take the game to the next level, as your players must deal with moral and ethical dilemmas. Is it right to slay baby monsters? Is looting a castle ethical?Is the law right or moral or both or neither? These philosophical choices directly impact play and the ultimate powers that rule Rochuron. In Mythos Arcanum, your characters aren't just embarking on a quest, but also searching for something deeper inside that may lead to mind-bending, reality-altering powers!

Our 1st tier is $15,000.This will allow us to print the Mythos Arcanum Core Rulebook.
2nd tier is $18,800: We will create a Special Introductory Adventure and distribute it via PDF to all pledges $15 and above.
3rd tier is $24,000: Art Upgrade: If we reach this tier, we will include artwork from legendary World of Greyhawk artist, Darlene. "That's where and how I have decided to place my intention, my energy, my focus in the time I have left." Darlene said, "This experiment is my opportunity to contribute towards something that has the possibility of creating more positive life choices for young players. Bringing fantasy into reality may be the future stage of role playing. Isn't that a possibility worth pursuing?"
4th tier is $30,000: We will create a second adventure and distribute via PDF.
5th tier is $35,000: Darlene will do a full color campaign map, which will be included with the core rulebook.
6th tier is $40,000: We will create a third adventure and distribute via PDF.
7th tier is $45,000: Art Upgrade II: Darlene will add a special piece of full color artwork in the rulebook.
8th tier is $50,000: We will create a fourth adventure and distribute it via PDF.
9th tier is $55,000: Art Upgrade III: Darlene will design the character sheet and the entire graphic design and layout for the core rule book.
$1: All backers get a thank you on our website, plus a Mythos Arcanum Wallpaper download.
$15: A PDF copy of the Mythos Arcanum core rulebook.This includes everything you need to create characters and adventure in the world of Rochuron. Backers of this level and above also get mentioned in the Hall of Fame section of our website.
$25: PDF copies of all PDF's from all tiers funded via Kickstarter.
$50: A print copy of the Mythos Arcanum core rulebook, plus copies of all PDF's from all tiers funded via Kickstarter. Please add $25 for anyone outside the US for shipping and handling. Add an extra $20 and it will be signed by creator, Joe Aragon!
$75: Creature Creator! In addition to your print copy of the book, you will get to help design and name a creature that will become part of the Mythos Arcanum world! You will also get a copy of the art for that creature!
$100: Develop Access! In addition to your print copy of the book, you will be invited to a private forum on the MAGI website. You'll be first in line to beta test product and be invited to developer level online discussions with the Mythos Arcanum development team! All backers at this level and above get their book signed!
$250: Setting Designer! In addition to your print copy of the book, you will help design a new setting in the Mythos Arcanum world! This non-city location will appear in a future Mythos Arcanum project!
$400: Arcanum Legend! In addition to your print copy of the book, your image (or your design) will become an important NPC in the world of Mythos Arcanum! You will also receive a copy of the artwork!
If we reach our funding goal: Anyone that pledges $100 or more will receive a print copy of the Maiden with Unicorn full color artwork.
Darlene will personally sign each one!
Who is this artist Darlene who worked on the original World of Greyhawk?
The once and future "Darlene" is mostly known as the creator of the classic World of Greyhawk 2-map set in the early 1980s. Darlene (aka "Our Lady of Gaming") was also the first female freelance artist for TSR. She contributed much to the look and medieval feel of the RPG genre such as devising TSR's wizard head logo. Her art appears in the DMG, B1, early issues of The Dragon, in Calendars, and in the first RPGA module and within various other early projects and game books.
"I embrace new adventures and new possibilities," Darlene says of her association with Mythos Arcanum, "and can get behind the idea of engendering a better world of possibility via RPGs. In 2012 and 2013, Joe Aragon inspired Darlene for her to create a score of fantasy RPG illustrations."
What if we introduce young users to some different concepts through their game play? At the moment, violence and greed gets rewarded. Can a different world be imagined in which the power of greed does not ultimately rule or perhaps a world where the concept of chivalry is not dead? What would it mean to be in this world? How would it feel? If, in their gameplay, outmoded models of power becomes antiquated and obsolete, can a new relationship to power make an impact upon a young player's choices in life?
Darlene's challenge as an artist visionary is to consciously use her art to help foster a world modeling integrity. Art and intention can come together to introduce new resonant pathways in the brain. Art engenders a new synthesis. Patterns and shapes produce unique effects. Patterns of black and white, Dark and light, Vibrational frequencies, Cadence, Visual poetry--All come together to create a transcendent effect on the brain.

This is just the beginning folks! We already have follow up products, at we plan to publish if this project is a success. We have adventures, settings, unique locations, . We even have a post-apocalypse game set in the far, far past written by James Ward, the author of the famous Gamma World! We may even be able to convince him to contribute an adventure offered here as one of the tier goals.
This is intended to be a community based project.
Designed by gaming community, supported by the community, and ultimately, the fate of the game will be driven and determined by the community.
It will require the community to support this game in order to make it a real manifestation.
This is no company driven thing where we bombard you with sales pitches, got to get them all while they last, nor will we change on you after a couple years just to drum up sales.
This will not be a game that gets changed in a couple years when a company decides it has sold to most of the consuming public and wants to drum up sales again. This game will last and only be built upon.
Mythos Arcanum Games Imagined is not like any game company you have ever dealt with before. The game will befully compatible with the first three versions of the most popular role playing game in history. All your old game material should be able to plug and play with little to no modifications. The book itself will be chock full of classic art from classic artists. It will be laid out by Darlene herself, with an eye to the subtle spiritual that only she can deliver. It will be a piece of symbolic symbolism with pieces of the collaborator’s soul within its very pages.
It will be a work of art in itself!

Mythos Arcanum comes with an original setting with its own gods, mythos, history, monsters and magic, but the rules are flexible enough that they can be adapted to any fantasy role-playing setting.
The rule book, a number of adventures and much of the artwork is complete. We are looking for funding to print and publish the Core Rule book, adventures and potential art upgrades.
The main challenges seem to be general cynicism, unethical Kickstarter campaigns launched in the past that have increased the cynicism, larger established game companies with existing production budgets taking advantage of Kickstarter services and existing loyal droves of fans in order to drive up profit margins that are dominating public attention.
This increases the challenge to legitimate small indie efforts and the upstart small guys trying to bring something truly special to the public.
