That’s why we made Subverse - a tactical RPG/SHMUP hybrid that takes place in a fully explorable galaxy where you get to be the Captain of your very own ship...which is crewed by the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit. Oh, and you can also befriend a perpetually stoned imp mechanic with six testicles.
Enter the Prodigium Galaxy – a place ruled by a by a bunch of puritanical, oppressive douchebags who pretty much hate anything sexy. Naturally, it’s up to you lead a covert revolution to overthrow these dickheads with your very own black ops squad of knockout waifus backed up by genetically engineered monsters and a top-secret stolen military fighter ship - all of which can be upgraded into an unstoppable force with loot and credits.
Assemble an elite team of deadly alien waifus that will fight for you. Learn their backstories, earn their loyalty and they'll do other stuff for you too. By other stuff we mean in bed. Like, you know, copulation. Just in case it wasn’t absolutely clear, you can bang your team members. Are we good now? Okay.
Explore the Prodigium galaxy with your totally baller stealth ship called the Mary Celeste. Enjoy a surreal meta-plot of comedic science fiction filled with memorable perverts and deviant villains. Discover sidequests and complete them for loot and purchase upgrades and awesome stuff for your ship, like nudie magazines.
Engage in plot-driven SHMUP missions if you’ve got a twitchy thumb, or tactical grid RPG turn-based combat for a more nuanced approach involving less flying kamikaze laser dick-ships. Destroy your enemies which include space pirates, bounty hunters, rogue warrior pleasure droids and other assorted scumbags.
Collect rare DNA samples across your adventures to create vicious bio-weapon monsters called MANTICORES (Mantics) to fight alongside your waifus. Outside of combat, your troops can serve another purpose by keeping your waifus satisfied. Yes, we totally mean by banging.
What can we say? We love to entertain, so we decided to pack Subverse to the brim with waifus of multiple alien species and organic classifications - all of which were created by world-renowned art director and squidgirl-titty enthusiast Dzung Phung Dinh.
Enjoy a wild ride through the main story arc as you assume the role of a stranded human in a hostile galaxy. Tired of your meaningless existence, you take up arms against your alien overlords as a tale of absurdist comedic harem-building revolution unfolds.
What was originally intended as an experimental project to test out the limits of our real-time Unreal animation pipeline, Subverse has evolved into something much more grand and deplorable.
Subverse is already functional and playable – we built the vehicle and the engine. Now, we just need the fuel to turn it into a full-length 10 Chapter RPG adventure with dozens of hours of gameplay. The only way that will be possible is with the support of our passionate fans that have always wanted to see a high-quality game of this type done right for the Western market.
Kickstarter is perfect for enabling us to budget the scope of a game like this. Based on how hard you guys want to push for the rewards above, we’ll be able to deliver a game tailored to the fanbase’s desires.
WHY NO MERCH
Although t-shirts, pins and art books are fun, it's painful to see companies blowing over a quarter of their budget on physical rewards. We feel as passionate gamers ourselves that every cent from Kickstarter should be poured into making the best game possible. Keeping the rewards digital will help us avoid the logistical pitfalls that have sunk so many promising projects before us...and concerning that content, we're going to have a bunch of amazing stuff available for our fans as the project progresses! Our entire team strongly opposes the idea of Pay-2-Win mechanics in these types of games - or as our director likes to call it, “Gacha$hit” systems. Therefore, we will not be implementing any artificial progression into Subverse. You’re gonna have to earn that booty the hard way. Any future planned DLC will be cosmetic-only and have no effect on gameplay, only on butt sizes and boob windows.
HOW TO GET THE WAIFUS
Instead of the usual hentai staple of offering you lewd rewards when you lose, we decided to go with the novel concept of offering you lewd rewards when you actually win! The better you perform in combat, the more you explore, and the more you talk to your waifus – the better your rewards get! Each waifu will have unlockable, fully animated, StudioFOW quality hentai scenes which you can view whenever you wish from the comfort of your own Captain's Quarters. If you’ve played our previous flash games you’ll know exactly how these scenes function. Pick a pose, pick a speed... and away you go.

Subverse is brought to you by an unholy union of neckbeard perverts at Studio FOW and legitimately talented Unreal Engine 4 programmers who happened to get lost on their way to more lucrative job interviews before deciding that if you’re gonna stare at spreadsheets all day you might as well get some anime tiddies on the side.
DC – Creative Director on Subverse and responsible for overseeing the project from its inception. Directing and editing 16 movies in 4 years has broken him, leaving him in dire need of orchestrating the kind of interactive hentai content that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Especially Grandma.
Dzung Phung Dinh – Art Director on Subverse and responsible for bringing our waifus to life, all the way from conceptual sketches to sculpting them in full 3D lusciousness. Winner of numerous art contests involving big-breasted cyborgs. Also wants to be set free. Send help.
Mr. Kristoff – Former gigolo-for-hire turned Senior Producer and Business Relations Manager. Years of elite capitalist business experience has taught him one thing and one thing only – that alien boobies sell. Also wrote the main script after downing a barrel of hallucinogens and watching Blade Runner on repeat for 72 hours straight.
Hungry JJ – Self taught UE4 programmer with several titles under his belt and a voracious appetite for creating the finest SHMUP action sequences you'll ever play in a game featuring a space ship with testicles for engines. Nobody has ever heard him utter a swear word.
One-Eyed Jeremy – Some kinda PhD-level AI consciousness that enjoys programming millions of lines of code to make sure that our dildos don’t fly off into space. Also loves optimizing pubic hairs. Approach his cubicle with caution.
Beamwire – This twisted lifeform has been with the studio since its inception, having worked his way up from the primordial soup of Source Engine level-design to building our UE4 levels using only the finest quality store-bought marketplace assets. Can now walk upright.
Moneyshot – Pride of Sweden and our lead animator on Subverse, you can expect even more delicious machinations from him with the power of Unreal Engine 4 and all the knäckebröd he wants at his disposal.
Manski - Enigmatic man of many talents, including user interface design and long-time animator. Has sworn to animate waifu love scenes until his physical form resembles a cross between Jabba the Hutt and the fat vampire from Blade.
Lt. Rocky – Canada’s finest rigger. Can be found creating intricate lattices of tiddy bones when not shoveling driveways full of snow. Will not take maple syrup in payment, only Doom WADs.
Portsman – Responsible for only the most important modeling tasks, such as welding inflatable phalluses onto a robot's hands so we can call him William Dildofingers and make him punch our protagonist in the face.
Samine – Director-sama found this curious little catgirl under a mountain of Hello Kitty plushies. Promising her a lifetime supply of Link nudes, he coerced her into becoming the Casting Director for the project and bestowed upon her the unenviable task of managing 50 starving voiceover artists.
Fow-Chan - Loyal secretary and community manager. Forms an integral part of the StudioFOW experience, especially when she slams her stiletto heels down into our balls for failing to meet a deadline. Also handles support and tickets.
Risks and challenges
StudioFOW has an impeccable crowdfunding track record, having solidified ourselves in the Top 25 Global creators list on Patreon before they decided to ban us for having a werewolf eat out a girl’s butthole.
The same chart-topping team that's released 16 movies to the public in 4 years of running is behind the day-to-day operation of this project. 16 movies in 4 years is an unprecedented track record that nobody else in the hentai industry has remotely come close to matching. Most major studios release 1-2 movies a year at best. Therefore the animation and cinematic portions of the game pose absolutely no risk whatsoever, it's basically bread and butter for our core team.
Having said that, we also realize that game development is different to filmmaking, therefore we have filled the gaps in our studio with experienced programmers and full-stack developers who themselves have delivered successful projects to Steam before. Combined with the retention of our core animation and creative team who have been working together for the past 5 years, we feel extremely confident that we can deliver a game of this scope within the targeted time period.
