Here's a nice little video that we cooked for our backers to share some light and insight on one of the visual development aspects of The Seed. The speed of the recording is increased by 2000% in this video, be sure to catch your breath while watching.
This is roughly 2 hours of Photoshopping compressed to a 4 minute high speed video. Digital sketches are composed prior to the final photoshop design where a total of 6 photos were utilized and mixed.
The full process of visiting locations, gathering footage, drawing sketches, equipment and data handling would add up in a handful of working hours spent on the design of each scene.
2 new wallpapers are published on the website, with one of them being the result of what you see in this video.
We would like to thank you all for the extremely supportive and possitive karma surrounding this project!
We're here with another status update to share some light on our progression, achievements and obstacles.
Good things first.
The game development is running full steam and we find ourselves cheering on an almost weekly basis whenever a feature or handful of assets are implemented and rendered fully playable.
Bugs and glitches are under our control and actually the technical foundation itself has been finalized to such a degree that development of Act 2 and 3 both have a bright future ahead of them.
So, while technically we do have an almost completed BETA build, aspects of fiction and editing remain unfinished, which is going to delay the process for us.
Now for the news that we had hoped to avoid.
This is an update that we have been dreading, as we have not wanted to let you all down.
For a variety of reasons we've found a need for rather bulky team re-arrangements.
As you probably are aware we have a core staff of veteran MDT creatives while different aspects of the game come to fruition hand in hand with voluntary involvement.
As a small indie company receiving splendid contribution from voluntary creatives we cannot expect all members to stick to the project as regular employees.
The main setback in this regard is the fact that a section of core BETA content had to be extracted from the (almost completed) build. We did our best to find a compromise and avoid for this to happen, and this is the reason why we couldn't state anything solid up until now,
Fact is that the team roles that have been replaced dig deep into the concept basis and as such a rather extensive lore guidance process is needed for aspects of fiction to progress and be re-build to perfection.
As independent developers, and with The Seed as our pilot project, we find it crucial to release a product of quality over quantity.
Obviously, we are dissatisfied with a delay on the development process, but we hope for your understanding and continuous support in this project.
We are fully aware that team re-arrangements are standard business, and did our best to add development buffers because of it. Yet we must face that we didn't add enough and we are displeased with the fact that we cannot live up to all of our estimated deadlines.
This BETA status overview is made to give you an indication of where we currently stand and what's left before we unleash the tale from our hearts.
Lastly, we would like to state that we are a devoted team with a solid project going here. We never quit or give up on something, we just move from Plan A to Plan B and adjust to it with passionate mindsets.
We are not proud of the scenario that we have suffered, but we are honestly quite proud that a single shout-out for a top notch author can conjure a response from such potent talents. At this point we are very confident that we shall recover well from past, current and future challenges.
Release estimates have been pushed forward, and we will share progression status and insight as soon as we have more solid calculations on all factors. Saying that the delay is a matter of a few months time is probably not off in this context, but we definitely see it possible to share the BETA with you way sooner than that.
We'd like to share some of the latest content that we have build for the game. Some of you will notice an inventory item that you decided for to be put in the game!
To offset this, the scene designs, background ambience, and coding is all proceeding as planned, and is being compiled and awaiting the finished BETA writing. We continue to strive to create a game that is satisfying for all of us, and living up to your expectations and our ambitions.
You are the backer that acknowledged this project and we going to honor your support by making it happen. As always we stand by to answer your questions.
