SYNTHETIK is an unforgiving shooter with RPG and Rogue elements in a world overrun by machines. Fight as android though the headquarters of the machine legion and avert the end of mankind. Can you reach the highest floor of the first Citadel and destroy the Heart of Armageddon?

SYNTHETIK is all about gameplay and creating a unique experience every attempt. Levels and encounters are a mixture of randomized and hand crafted, offering continuously new challenges and unique interactions.
Mechanics and interactions are built around depth and edge cases contrary to the recent trend of streamlining and averaging your experience. Objects may malfunction or have unforeseen effects mixed with friendly fire for both sides ensures things can go very right or backfire horribly.
The game underlies various roleplay conventions, you can dodge anything, chance plays a role and you can skew stats in your favor.
The result is a game that even surprises us with unforeseen interactions and dynamics, which is as harsh and demanding as it is rewarding.
Stakes are high, you have one life, choose your fights wisely.
The machine legion is relentless and will try to stop you at any cost from loosening their grip over mankind. Seeking for sole domination, the machines are unleashing the Heart of Armageddon. It is the eleventh hour on the doomsday clock. Are you able to prevent the cataclysm against all odds?
Out of a series of forgotten prototypes, merging human intelligence and mechanical precision, you awake without any memories in the lab of your creator in the now machine controlled citadel.
As the largest factory of Kaida Robotics Industries, leading developer in robotics, the Citadel finds itself as the new headquarters of the revolting machine empire.
The Citadel consists of several playable floor levels, each rearranging every new attempt, and posing varied challenges and opposition.

The game contains light stealth elements, keeping aware of your surrounding is important, machines can flee and alert others, search reinforcement and will go back to patrol, sweeping searches or into defensive positions if they should lose track of you.
Each enemy can be encountered in 3 different ranks, Mark I, Mark II and Mark III. Rank 2 and 3 are not only tougher, but also have different attacks or special attributes, requiring special attention.
Weapons are a major part of Synthetik and we invested a lot of time in cutting edge mechanics to bring gunplay to the next level.

- Weapons can be upgraded many times in multiple categories!
Weapon variants change stats, burst patterns, even sounds! (Indicated in green). Weapons feel different each time you acquire them. You can also further upgrade your best weapons with the upgrade kits you find
.
Each found weapon will possess one of (on average) 3 ammo types further altering the performance of the weapon. There is poisonous ammo, less lethal stun ammunition, bouncing projectiles and a lot more. This also applies to rocket launchers and other unconventional arms. Weapons feel different each time you obtain them!
You will find many usable items, ranging from health vials and steroids, unidentified potions with unknown effects, to grenades, drones that shoot down bullets mid flight or passives that trigger on special actions.
Items may be increased in power by sharing your experience data with them. You will have 3 slots for items to accumulate power, it's up to you which one you continuously level. Weak items may become very powerful if found early and continuously leveled, changing item roles and priorities each play-through.
You may even level health vials and potions, growing their positive and negative effects, so be wary of the unidentified potion surprisingly poisoning you with extreme strength.
The hub allows you to unlock new items, weapons, access statistics and a variety of other things.
Before each attempt you choose between various starter kits, coming with different attributes, starting weapons and items, granting varied starting points for potential builds.
The RPG-like attributes are linked with all the systems of the game. You could rely on classic attributes like health, speed or dodge, improving your chances in direct encounters, or rely on unconventional attributes like chance, scavenging, stealth or threat. (Additional Gif)

- Speed - The movementspeed
- Dodge - You can dodge anything the game throws at you
- Experience - How much experience you and your items get
- Chance - How lucky you are in numerous cases
- Scavenging - Affects how many pickups you find
- Currency - Modifies how many credits you aquire
- Stealth - Decreases your visibility
- Threat - Increases enemy resistance
Rely on experience to level your character and items faster, or bet on scavenging to find more of the latter. Increase your threat and face higher resistance, but also gain more experience and reward as a cause. Chance plays a role in many aspects and being lucky can also certainly pay off. Additional attribute points are rare, but may be pushed to extremes.
At each level up, a new memory module will be recovered from your erased memory. Regain powerful capabilities that you had lost long before. Your Android systems has multiple core modules, such as shield, sensors or targeting. On each level up you will be granted a new module, coming with unique and upgradeable passive boni.
Keep in mind that you have limited memory slots and decisions will need to be made. Each module can further be powered with more energy, increasing its effect and an additional perk at full power. (Full Menu Pic)
The core modules like your shields or sensors may also be replaced. You could also choose to spend your upgrades on your existing core modules over the newly acquired ones.
In conclusion, the varied weapons, levelable items, character attributes and memory modules bringing in a lot of variation to play with.
SYNTHETIK intuitively brings you intense and challenging gunplay, changing levels, rich diversity and potential for experimentation following the credo "Easy to learn, hard to master"
As you surely noticed, we went with a rather uncommon 'artstyle'. Nearly all the art in the game is created in 3D and offline rendered (pre-rendered) as 2D images for the game engine (YoYo Games GMS) with unbiased ray tracing. Posing various challenges and benefits, offline rendering gives unmatched image quality and sharpness. It also reflects the retro-futuristic setting of the game, and the era of classic games the game is inspired by.
The game is supports framerates over 240 FPS and does not cap at your monitor frame-rate, meaning you get a smoother experience even if your monitor only supports 60 Hz. The sprites are very high resolution and pixel perfect on 1080p, look amazing on 1440p and scale great towards 4k.
Most of the assets were created and rendered in Maxon Cinema 4D as well as using Otoy Octane Renderer. Keep in mind that visuals are bound to change and improve.
We are Flow Fire Games, a small 2 man company from Berlin, Germany and have been making well received tools for Game Engines such as Unity and Unreal 4, which allowed us to create Synthetik up to this point.

Synthetik is a passion project and has come a long way since its inception in late 2014. After our very positive Greenlight campaign, the journey now is at a point where the help of the community is needed to shape it to its best possible form.
We spent nearly 2 years on the game so far and from a technical standpoint Synthetik is mostly complete, we now mainly work on the missing levels, enemies and bosses.
The funding goal is enough for us to stay fully focused, independent, and continue to pay for our skilled outside support, helping us considerable with animations, sounds, music and additional art, making the game so much better.
Reaching even higher stretch goals would allow us to spend more time, implementing more community wishes and bringing the game to life beyond our dreams.
The Release plan: We plan to deliver the Beta by December 2016, while the release is scheduled for the following January. Dependent on additional stretch goals reached, we will take enough time to give them the attention they need.

Risks and challenges
Completion: We spent nearly 2 years on the game so far and from a technical standpoint the game is mostly complete (apart of the stretch goals), already very enjoyable and stable, we now mainly need to push content, environments and enemies as well as bosses.
The risks completing the game are very low, we achieved a lot on little funds. Stretch goals like Console ports, COOP or even online COOP however are hard tasks and always come with risks involved towards their timely completion.
