We have made several notable changes to the combat system in our Pre-Alpha based on YOUR feedback! Click on the images below to download the Pre-Alpha Prologue via GameJolt (Version A and B) OR play it on Steam (Version B only). We'd love to hear what you think about these changes so be sure to let us know once you have tried it!
Version A vs Version B
Our Pre-Alpha comes in two versions. Version A (original) and version B (modified) have slightly different combat systems. We hope you'll take the time to play both. At the end of our Kickstarter, we will conduct a poll so you can vote which combat system you prefer.
All videos, GIFs, and images showcased below are taken directly from our Pre-Alpha.
The titular Legrand is home to a plethora of fascinating landscapes and cultures. Our Pre-Alpha only covers the first chapter of the entire game, which takes place in the Eastern desert. However, we have planned a variety of other regions, each with their own unique and mysterious inhabitants, which we hope to include in the final game.
Strategy is key! Take advantage of each attack type, (slash, pierce, impact) as well as element types (fire, wind, water, air and ice) to maximize your potential in battle. Once the commands have been selected, be ready for ACT (Action Circle Tempo). ACT requires that you press the correct button at the right time in order to get bonuses for your attack or defense actions. You will also need to watch out for interruptions that can be triggered by the attacks from your enemies, however - you can also interrupt your enemies, so be sure to plan and act accordingly!
Fight deadly malicious monsters, and the gruesome creatures under their control. Can you survive the onslaught?
Recruit Non-Player Characters (NPC) to help restore Dumville Castle back to its former glory! As you attract more NPCs to join your cause, you’ll also be able to engage in some fun mini games and try to beat your own high scores.
Visual novel style conversation, with characters that express emotions in real-time, so that you know how they truly feel about their actions and the situation at large.
Collect items from slain enemies and decide whether to sell them for some quick money, or be patient and use them to upgrade your characters' equipment as you craft new items to improve weaponry and armor sets.
Side quests in Legrand Legacy range from 'get to know your characters better' to really hardcore challenges, if you're up for some added fun! You will receive valuable rewards and bonuses for completing each side quest – who knows, you might even gain access to a War General or an NPC to tend to your Headquarters.
Over time, you will amass an army which can be deployed to wars in various parts of Legrand. To achieve victory, you will need to consider the troop types you’ll be facing, the troops you’ll be sending to battle, and the terrain they will fight in as you strategically position them on the map. Here's Rogar, one of the War Generals that you'll be able to recruit:
You can configure the items and grimoire that characters can wield in combat, establish specific combat formations, review journals to track quests, use items to restore lost health, and distribute points to level up characters or unlock skills.
We have composed an epic original soundtrack to accompany you on your journey and to complement your adventure through the various regions and cultures of Legrand. Below are some samples of the music:

To thank you for believing in Legrand Legacy, we have prepared a cool selection of beautifully crafted and high quality items which we hope you will treasure in your collection. These rewards are all Kickstarter exclusive, so if you see something you like, this is the only time to get them!
We knew from the very beginning of the development of Legrand Legacy that we wanted to build and involve our community, but we also wanted to wait until we had something solid to show to prove our commitment to the project and our capability.
For the past two years we have invested our own personal funds into making the game, and we now come to you on Kickstarter for your support to take us over the final stretch. We have created hundreds of assets, quests, and storylines that need to be implemented into the final build of Legrand Legacy, and this is where you come in!
As you can see from the chart above, 10% will be used for Kickstarter fees and payment processing fees, 19% will go to taxes, and 17% will be used for rewards fulfillment. Essentially, when all is said and done, we'll be left with roughly 54% of all funds pledged on Kickstarter to implement all contents into the game.
For Legrand Legacy we worked with the experts at PR Hound. They have worked with many Kickstarter campaigns you've probably seen such as Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, Woven, Buck, InSomnia, War of Rights, and plenty more! If you're thinking about taking a project to Kickstarter, we highly recommend their services!
Risks and challenges
As with most Kickstarter campaigns, there is always a risk when backing a project. But we believe that the two hour Pre-Alpha build of Legrand Legacy you can play right now will show you how we are more than capable of delivering the epic game you deserve.
We can’t promise there won’t be any delays in the game’s development, but we can promise that if we do end up having to delay the game’s release window in order to polish it a bit more, you’ll be the first to know.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
