About

Disclaimer:  the ship pictured is not the ship intended for the use of this project, there will be time taken to shop around for the proper vessels.  The exact amount of time is unknown.  I'm estimating over a year for all this, travel, shopping around for the right vessels and getting to know others that have similar desires.

Please refer to some of the links I have posted about viewing used cruise ships so you can understand the level of potential in the amount being requested.

Ever had the desire to just get away from it all and just go explore the world and see what is out there, only to realize you cant afford to do it by yourself?  The project I am proposing will bring many of us that have this desire together.  It's daring, unprecedented, and it is open to people from all walks of life.  Understand firstly, that this is not a cruise, it is intended to be a way of life for those of us to come and go as we please, for those to truly discover how to work together in situations that need our hands.

If you're a doctor, an engineer, a simple tech person that cant seem to get things together, this project screams out to you.  We could use film crews to document this adventure, cooks, farmers, electricians, people that know how to operate ships of these sizes.  Nannies, writers, musicians, botanists, deep sea divers, researchers, linguists, show-men and women, and so many more that would be more than welcome to make things exciting and loving.

Think of the freedom that was shared among people before the nature of the system took control, this is a response to such a way of living that I feel many people no longer want to experience.  Peace at sea, peace in discovering islands and the possibility of making them habitable, there is so much on this planet that we are kept away from discovering for ourselves and this is a life-long expedition to see first hand the things that only a select few people have access to. Things done in international waters by the common people trading research and discovery for the smallest of necessities in order to live freely and by their own decent moral code.

Risks and challenges

There are so many challenges that come to mind when it comes to approaching a project like this. The first is actually going through with an idea that seems so far-fetched it's only something that you could find in biblical stories. About being told that I am completely out of my mind for even coming up with an idea like this has been a rather easy challenge to overcome, you see, I am a minimalist and have spent most of my life in near poverty/homelessness and I have learned to embrace fully through my own learning and through the good graces of others. I am not a bum, I am a hard working individual that is simply trying to create something better than what we currently view as our own standard of living. I want to be able to share my notion of freedom with others that would like to share theirs with myself and others, so that we can grow, expand, and learn together.

Fuel costs: I am hoping to find a way to fund directly from the ships, this is probably the largest challenge as it will require people to work directly from the ship. Online funding, filming, music, arts of all sorts, research, studying new and more fuel efficient ways to power these behemoths. Making friends with countries that are willing to supply us.

Fresh water: The current plan in motion is to reserve one ship specifically for the water supply. Also, each ship will have its own fresh water supply so that we may have a steady source of fresh water and that all the eggs are not in one basket. I'm almost certain there are methods of converting salt-water to fresh water, as well as, collecting rain water.

Power: Solar, wind, and various other methods of renewable energy that could be discovered while on board. tidal powers that flow naturally beneath or behind, all these things are supplemental fuel and will power the ships electrical systems and lighting

Pirates: I think upon entering the ships they will come to find that the only thing of true value to them would be to turn around and depart, for we would be a community defending our homes.

Sickness: This, is naturally where the farms and fresh fruit stocks come into play. Health is obviously a key factor in determining full functioning operation of the ships and the community. All operation is based around the happiness of everyone aboard, and a healthy person is a happy person. Doctors and those in the medical field are imperative so direct medical advice, as well as, our own personal research for the well being of ourselves and one another is all too important.

Waste: much of this can be used as fertilizer and various other things, it's a matter of study and acceptance as to what ideas are out there. I am open to all suggestions on this matter.

Finding the proper vessels: The exact number of ships is uncertain, because obviously I can't crunch the numbers without first having the numbers to work with. I am open to all suggestions about this, I am thinking at the moment one ship for a direct water supply, depending upon how many people get involved in this either one to three ships for living quarters, life-boats, a ship for livestock/dried goods and farming. there are so many different ideas out there that one person simply cannot come up with them all.

Livestock and agriculture: Designing one ship in particular around the growth of food and raising of animals. Turning pools into hydroponic systems to raise fish.

Homesickness and separation anxiety: It's bound to happen, all I can suggest is to prepare yourself mentally and be sure this is something you really want to do. It's a long term project that I'm sure will bring about many interesting stories and discoveries for all who par-take.

Positive cash flow: There is going to have to be some. Naturally I do intend to use all the funds from this towards these ships and their modifications. Any remainder will go into a fund to grow with interest as a nest egg of sorts, but everyone aboard will have to participate in some way for their own on land funds and for the growing wealth of this little on the water nation.

Passports, personal money, personal goods, it is a minimalistic way of life, but it is a life of freedom. It's not to say that we wont stop and visit various places in the world, I am sure if this idea begins to grow that many people all over the world will want to talk to at least one person on the ships to know what life is like for them. Again, I am open to all suggestions that will help to propel this concept, I don't know everything, but I am a very quick learner and would love to know if there are others out there like myself that happen to be looking for a life of uncertainty at sea.

    A part of future endevors

The potential to be a part of this. Consider it a first part of the interview process to be a part of something that could be talk about for years to come! I can't take everyone as there is limited space, but I do intend to continue growing this project for years to come, to purchase more and more ships and bring as many people as I can that helped to get this up and running. You'd basically be a part of a nation at sea, the beginning of an endeavor to prove there is nothing that isn't possible.

    Much more involvement

You're obviously serious about this project, we would meet and could discuss certain people you'd like to bring aboard, the things that you could do to be a part of the community. I have to put a delivery date in, to be honest It's going to take time to get this project in the water (very punny) but any large contributions will be on-board and along for the ride and involved in the designs under the assumption that they are safe and make sense and you are willing to collaborate with others. Visiting and helping with inspection of potential vessels, as indeed their will be shopping around. This is a global type of venture and it may take years to find and re-equip the vessels for the most comfortable of living conditions.
