Demetrios is Funded! MADE IT! :D
Got a surprise in my emails when I woke up this morning!
And still 18 days to go! That's amazing, thank you so much :)
Keep spreading the word though! The next stretch goal is for translating the game into Spanish, and then the German translation!
Yesterday, my update about the PS Vita version made a "mini-buzz" on Reddit!
A lot of people have expressed interest in this portable version, which is a pleasant surprise! I'll be sure to make my best to release this version and with extra care! (But let's reach that 5 000 € stretch goal first, shall we?)
Some people have also expressed concerns that the goal and stretch goals seem too low and underestimated. Here's my reply on this.
The "low" goal is a choice I've made. I am doing everything myself, from the art to music composing and programming (I have a programming background) so I don't need a lot of money to make the game.
However, even for one dev the Kickstarter money wouldn't normally suffice. But the game is already 60% developed (remember, it's a remake of an unreleased game I've made 15 years ago!) And I've got personal funds to help, more than enough to complete the game and port it to other platforms. Keep in mind that the stretch goals are just that, they're not budgets, and it's the same for pretty much every video game Kickstarter nowadays!
I'm using Game Maker Studio to make the game, which makes it "easy" to export the game to several platforms. Of course, I know console developing means getting through specific certifications, age ratings and all that. I'm ready for this.
The Kickstarter is there to raise interest, gather a following and get feedbacks, not just for the money. Although more money means it's easier to convince Sony, Microsoft and others to let me port the game on their platforms, and it ensures I can spend more time to make them with the highest quality!
I'm currently in talk with Sony and they've said they should be loaning me a PS Vita devkit soon :)
Thanks again everyone, it means a lot to me! :) Hopefully Demetrios might get greenlit soon!
