About this project
ENTER: CRONUS MAGNUS
If you grew up with or are just a fan/collector of Shogun Warriors® and Jumbo Machinders, AND you backed my previously successful Vulkira™ Kickstarter, then YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO BACK THIS ONE!
Hello! I’m Eric Smith (www.fullblownink.com). I am a professional artist of 20+ years and a man-child from the 70s and 80s with a crazy love for all things Japanese robot related.
This campaign is a follow up to my previously successful 2014 Project: Vulkira Kickstarter campaign. Because every heroic robot needs a nemesis, I bring you Cronus Magnus™! By backing this campaign you will help me build on and continue my vision for my line of Vulkira vinyl (and resin) toys and my planned, accompanying Vulkira comic book!
Inspired by my favorite giant Japanese robots and limited to 300 pieces with a painted glow-in-the-dark colorway, Cronus Magnus will stand 10.5" and will have 3 points of articulation, foil belly sticker as well as interchangeable hand/weapon attachments. Cronus Magnus will be packaged in a printed box.
3D Sculpt by Shinbone Creative.
Rewards include a downloadable coloring page, 2", full-color sticker, a set of signed blueprints, button pack (Four 1", pin-back buttons), military-style embroidered patch, glow in the dark sticker, resin casted action figure of the pilot, the 3D printed Cronus Magnus prototype, and if you missed out on Vulkira, I am giving you a chance to get the Shogun and black vinyl Vulkira color ways (both will include a Vulkira sticker and Vulkira blueprints). I am also bringing some of my wonderfully talented, renowned, professional artist friends into this project. Higher reward tiers will include original art work from Jeff Lamm (indie toy designer), David White (illustrator and creator of Mechanauts), Steve "Chanks" Ciancanelli (illustrator/screenprinter), Darryl Banks (comic book illustrator-DC Comics), THE Daniel Brereton (Award-winning comic book artist-Nocturnals, DC comics, etc.), Frankie B Washington (official BotCon illustrator), Clinton Reno (illustrator/screen printer), and Larry Warren (syndicated cartoonist). The pics below show sample of the artists' works and are NOT the art offered.
At $24,000, a second Cronus Magnus color way (Great Shogun Z color way) will be unlocked. Anyone who pledges $100 or more will receive the second color way at no extra cost!
Cronus Mangus will be produced by Shinbone Creative (Headquartered in Austin, TX).
Cost of this figure versus Vulkira is higher due to size and the fact there are many piece that must be injection molded. The injection mold process is very expensive.
Your contribution to this project will be for a myriad of expenses attached to producing this figure.
Goal costs include sculpting, prototype, producing a wax master, unique tools, mold masters, injection molding, color way paint apps, packaging, and shipping.
Also, all costs associated with producing all other reward tier items are taken into account.
Estimated delivery dates are based on the time it will take Shinbone Creative to produce and ship the 300 pieces to me. I got an approximation of 80-90 days for production from Shinbone Creative. Then there's their shipping time to me, my time to packing rewards in to shipping boxes and then shipping out to backers. It may not take until December, but I would rather everyone receive rewards sooner than later than the date.
I will maximize your every dollar put into this project to bring you the best possible purchasing experience.
Remember, the success of this project is now up to YOU as much as me, so help get the word out by telling your friends on and off social media, message boards, etc.
IMPORTANT: Cronus Magnus is NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN. This is an adult collector toy and for adults ONLY.
Risks and challenges
There are always challenges when producing any product and it's possible that there may be unforeseen delays in production, but with 18+ years of experience in commercial art with a focus on production, project managment and overseas product manufacturing and delivery, I am confident any obstacle can be overcome.
I have padded delivery dates to hopefully accommodate any delays
You have my word that I will deliver quality products in the timeliest of fashions. I will communicate with all donors and give updates regularly, addressing any issues should they arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
