"Why are you showing me this?"
- My Father, upon his first and only viewing of an episode of MAN ATTEMPTS DIET
In 2005 my friends and I created an awful web-series entitled "Man Attempts Diet." Every episode found the titular "Man" character attempting a new impractical diet most-always ending in failure, misfortune and occasionally death.
Coinciding with the cusp of YouTube's exponential growth, we somehow found a small audience of 3,000 subscribers who tolerated our videos (and occasionally enjoyed them), leading us to continue the creation of new videos and concepts we hadn't already exhausted
Most of the videos were 10-60 seconds long and adhered to a strict set of guidelines which forced us to become super surreal and innovative after shooting the first year's batch of them. For some reason we kept shooting more and ended up producing 127-episodes before the series abruptly ended without a conclusion.
Bring the final episode of MAN ATTEMPTS DIET to life! Help us cap off a 100+ episode web series with the ending it deserves.
Remember, if we don’t reach our goal, we receive nothing. Any contribution will be fully appreciated. And, of course, all contributions will be rewarded!
Apart from monetary contributions, please spread the word! Tell your coworkers, your friends, your friends' friends, your immediate family, your extended family.
Post our Kickstarter URL on your Facebook, your Twitter, your G-chat status, and any other social outlet you can think of.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Risks and challenges
Over the past eight years, we’ve traveled across the country on shoots, spent countless hours in the edit, and now we’re almost done!
As we work towards completion and (with your help) to raise funds to finish the series, we’ll be pursuing release schedules, screening venues, and our official launch party. We expect to screen the finale at The Streamy Awards this year, but one very real risk and challenge for this campaign is the potential for delays in delivering DVDs and the availability of digital delivery per our launch schedule.
All delivery dates are estimates only and subject to change at any time.
If we are behind schedule, we will promptly notify all funders. That said, all non-film related rewards should be fulfilled well before January 2015 — within 5 months after the completion of our campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
