Ahoy there, Freakpocalypse Backers!

We know you're all eager to play the game, and we'd love nothing more than to put it in your hands right now, but we're still adding in more fun to the experience and fine-tuning a bajillion other things. We've added in some more characters recently, including cameos and secrets from the Cyanide & Happiness universe that you'll have a chance to meet and ultimately mess with. Ssssecrets!

We've been wrapping up mountains of testing, fixes, music, and voice acting. Here's a view of what our lives have looked like over the past several months:

And what question is that? Ssssecrets!

The demo of Freakpocalypse went over extremely well at RTX and PAX South, and it was a blast seeing people playing it. We also got some very useful feedback from the public demos, and we've made some exciting additions to the game as a result. For those of you who weren't there, here's a photo of the booth:

While we can't send out a demo of the game, we do have another sneaky peak for you - this one is from the original soundtrack composed by our very own Steve Lehmann! Give it a listen:

We think it matches the feel of this world we've created - before the actual Freakpocalypse happens - perfectly. So, whaddaya think? Drop a comment below and share your thoughts!

FYI - We're at a stage in production where we can dedicate more frequent updates and teases to the game, so be on the look out for some additional behind the scenes juicy goodness in the near future. Thanks again for your continued patience while we work towards releasing Freakpocalypse. More news to come soon!

Any chance you could give us an estimated time of arrival? It's at least something that you provide updates, but we are approaching 4 months now and this is suppose to be just chapter 1 release... If you want to add characters, music, etc to enhance the game, couldn't that be done with future installments of chapters?

@Mynegawn - That's a different game, so you'd need to ask TinyBuild (the publisher) if that's happening.

@Dylan Nicholson - Thanks! We'll have more updates in the coming weeks.

@Andy 'Dyer' Bailey - You must've missed my response to Martin, so I'll paste it here: "Because at conventions like RTX & PAX, we have control over the game, we can monitor people playing it to make sure nothing goes wrong and take notes about what changes need to be made, we can ensure that it's not distributed online to people who didn't pay for it, etc. That's not something we can do remotely."

I agree with @Martin, why can't the demo be released to the backers who funded the game, but randomers at a convention get to play it???????
(Even though there's no guarantee the people playing it at the conventions backed the project)

thanks for the update, looking forward to the game.

When will rapture rejects hit the PS4?

@Alicia Gould - We'll have a booth at PAX East, but not sure if we'll have the game there yet or not.

      @Ermel - ❤

@Benjamin Kubczak - Thanks! Glad to hear you like it! Can't wait for you to hear the rest of the music Steve created for the game!

@Archampion - We don't have a release date yet; we're nearing the point of announcing one, but can't until we have the first chapter of the game ready to go. We'll keep you posted!

@Bryn Paul Lindahl-Dunton - Oh yeah, you're gonna love it! Steve has done a killer job on all the background music!

@Budd Rutter - That was our original estimated release window, but timelines shifted as we add more content and continue to refine the first chapter. That's just the nature of game development in general. We'll keep everyone posted on release plans.

@Eyal Shalev - Thanks! And yes, that's exactly our game design philosophy. The last thing we want to do is rush the release to meet an arbitrary date. Thanks for being so patient! All this extra work is making the end result that much better. :)

      Keep up the good work.
To the anxious bakers: it's better to release a good game a bit late, than an half-baked non-game on time.

Hasn't it been a few months since the game was suppose to be released?

Great background music choice, it sounds like its gonna be amaze!

How long are we still gonna wait for it to be released?

      Ah, fair enough

Will you be at PAX East?

    15. Roger Barr Collaborator on

@Martin - Yep. Because at conventions like RTX & PAX, we have control over the game, we can monitor people playing it to make sure nothing goes wrong and take notes about what changes need to be made, we can ensure that it's not distributed online to people who didn't pay for it, etc. That's not something we can do remotely.

      > While we can't send out a demo of the game

Any particular reason why a demo can't be sent out to your backers ?
