On a tragic day in December 1996, Ron Moore's entire world was shattered. All that he knew, trusted and loved was lost. The catalyst? A school shooting that would eventually claim as collateral damage the lives of his wife, daughter and stepson.
"The moments that change our lives are the ones we never see coming."
From climbing into the bottom of a liquor bottle to finding his way back to love once again, this film is not about Ron's tragedy, but of his ultimate redemption. Our hope in sharing Ron's story is not only to shed light on these senseless acts, but also to engage our audience in a dialogue surrounding this unsettling trend… but we need your help!

SO, WHY KICKSTARTER?
One of Ron Moore's biggest concerns with sharing his story on the big screen was that "things will get “Hollywood-ized". Under our watch, that’s not going to happen. We initially moved our project through the traditional channels and the feedback on the script was excellent. BUT… and there's always a but, they felt for them to make the film a "big box office draw" we needed to change the script to make it an A-list celebrity vehicle.
In our opinion, those changes would have compromised the story, pulling the audience out of the film. We want to make our film the right way, for the right reasons; and we want to be able to cast the right actors for the roles.
SO, HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU NEED?
We hope to raise a minimum of $500,000 to make BUILDING BRIDGES. Would we like to have more? Hell, yes!! But we know we can make an incredible film if only our minimum goal is met.
This is a true passion project for all of us and every dollar raised will be put on the screen. The exciting thing about Kickstarter is that we eliminate the middle man, allowing us to make the film we've always envisioned.
The way things work here are simple. If we don't reach our goal by the date listed, no money exchanges hands. We've set a minimum financial goal, a timeline and created special incentives at different levels of funding. So please, give what you can and just as importantly, spread the word.
Once we reach our funding goal, we're looking to film just outside of Chicago, IL in June of 2014, affording us proximity to the Steppenwolf Ensemble as well as Steppenwolf Films' strong ties within the Illinois Film Commission and Arts Community.
We have an amazing opportunity to tell an important story. But, we can't do it without you. We hope that you will seriously consider supporting BUILDING BRIDGES.
Thanks for your time -

Risks and challenges
We all agree, film making is a crazy, unpredictable business with a lot of unknowns. But, we’ve minimized those variables by starting with an extraordinary true story, a strong script, a "dream team" behind the camera and of course an award winning cast. It's impossible to guarantee everything will manifest itself as we might hope, but at the end of the day, we know we’ll have created an incredible film.
