In the realm of Kanta, power was balanced between clans. Then a plague struck, and states closed their borders in fear of infection. This cut each clan off from the source of their wealth. The leader of each clan retreated to Kanta City for safety.
Now the outbreak is ending. You and every other leader have a chance to rebuild as the wealthiest clan. Will you control the new balance of power?
The new economy revolves around small, trusted chains of allied states. Compete or collaborate to build rings of allied states and come out as the wealthiest in the process. Consider resource-rich states that earn you an edge over others. Use your clan's unique abilities wisely and you may just be the next leader of Kanta.
With borders slowly reopening, the new economy revolves around small chains of trusted allied states.
Scoring happens whenever players form a ring of six claimed states that form a circle. The state in the middle of the ring need not be claimed and is not a factor in scoring.
In each completed ring, your first state earns three gold. Your second state earns two gold. Each additional state earns one gold. This is best remembered as “3-2-1” scoring.
In the 3-player game above, Water Clan has placed a single tile (highlighted white) and completed two rings.
The blue ring scores Plains Clan 3 gold (one tile in the ring), Desert Clan 3+2 gold (two tiles in ring), and Water Clan 3+2+1 gold (three tiles).
The green ring scores Water Clan 3+2 gold (two tiles), and Plains Clan 3+2+1+1 gold (four tiles).

Play solo in this exciting 20-minute game that takes you even deeper into the realm of Kanta!
The one player game takes you to the early days of the plague, years before the era in which the 2-6 player version is set.
As leader of the Mountain Clan you must safely guide your family to the safety of Kanta City. There’s a catch - you must also escort your allies, the Valley Clan.
New challenges and thrills await, using the same base components of the regular game! Note: Unlike the 2-6 player version of Borders of Kanta, the solo option remains in beta testing. It will be fully tested once the stretch goal is reached.

Risks and challenges
This game is fully tested as a 2-6 player game. It is ready for production and release as a print-and-play, with the exception of one object illustration required for the Alliance Support card.
Solo play mode is being offered as a work-in-progress and an opportunity for players to participate in shaping its final form.
Some file modifications or additions may be required in order to accommodate stretch goals that are reached.
As our first campaign, one of our largest challenges is building enough trust to get the Kickstarter community - you - to back the project.
We've done a few things to make this happen. First, we have extensively tested the game and been highly active in the Western Canadian board game design community. We've sought independent reviews and previews and will be posting these throughout the campaign. We've deliberately avoided unnecessarily flashy stretch goals that might raise doubts as to whether we can deliver on them. And we've worked hard to offer very affordable - or free - shipping.
Who has played Borders of Kanta exactly? Independent board game designers, experienced and new players, board game cafe owners, and experienced reviewers. That's in addition to all the testers we've recruited. The game has toured the conventions listed on the Kickstarter page. Through it all, the response has been very positive. This game hits that sweet spot of being easy to pick up, challenging to master, and always different depending on who you’re playing against and which role you select at the beginning.
We have shortlisted our preferred manufacturers and fulfillment service providers. They are required to conform to our quality standards in terms of materials, shipping packaging, and delivery times.
