About this project
After a 4-year hiatus and numerous requests, Mic Life Magazine is back... well, technically we will return with help from our readers, supporters, and supporters of the underground arts scene in the DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia) areas. Our goal is to provide indepth coverage and provide a platform for regional artists, performers and venues to receive the recognition they deserve. At the same time, breaking new artists and covering national acts with an underground following via mixed media (print magazine, the blogosphere, live showcases, and social media).
One hundred percent of all donations will go to make this dream a reality and you will forever be a part of not just a magazine, but a movement! Please join us in supporting the arts! Your donation (regardless of amount) is important and appreciated!
Risks and challenges
We live in an age where print media is rapidly becoming a dinosaur. With the advent of the internet, blogging, and the desire to get the story out first, in-depth journalism has fallen to the wayside. But this has been done at the risk of providing misinformation, opinions instead of facts, and a loss of journalistic integrity. We plan to stand by the tennants of true journlism, providing in the inside story, fact checking, and utilizing skilled and talented writers who provide an engaging point of view. This can be done while remaining relevant to this electronic age by providing a media mix of blogging, video, and social networking content that spawns from the print source and vice versa.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
