It was September 2008 Kerri had just moved to Nashville from North Carolina and was in desperate need of a friend. So naturally she joined a bible study. Becki had just moved back to Nashville from Los Angeles and was craving community so she too joined that same bible study. Little did we know that day was the beginning of a LONG, SUPER - fun friendship filled with joy, tears, and an INCREDIBLE amount of laughter.
We’ve walked similar yet individual stories that intertwined that September day. Since our friendship began the Lord has been sewing threads of unity throughout our lives. Truthfully we didn’t even see or recognize His hand at the beginning. We were simply friends who needed companionship. Where it went from there wasn’t our focus.
Since that first bible study a TON has happened. We’ll give you the readers digest version. Becki moved to Denmark with her family and Kerri and her family rented out their house. When Becki and family returned earlier than expected, both families lived together in the 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house in Franklin TN. Yes, 4 adults and 3 children all under one roof. It was crazy and hilarious all at the same time. After a few months Kerri and family found a little house downtown and moved out… we were all a bit sad.
Over the next two years both families grew in friendship and walked out some of life’s greatest challenges, ranging from financial hardships, to health catastrophes. We learned how to walk in unity on our separate journeys, supporting each other sometimes even at a distance.
Little did Becki realize they were walking out the foundation of the core beliefs of the ministry she’d been working with for the last 3 years – Adoration Ministries.
Many years ago the Lord gave Becki a vision for worship: UNITY among worship leaders. He wasn’t specific WHO the worship leaders were, or WHERE these worship leaders would be from… but the call was CLEAR: Worship leaders leading in UNITY. Out of this vision Becki and her husband Devon started a ministry that partners worship leaders together with various ministries across the globe. Our purpose and mission is clear – to bring unified worship in whatever way we are serving.
November of 2010 Adoration was invited to join two ministries serving in Uganda, Africa. Immediately Becki thought Kerri needed to go with.
While we were in Uganda the Lord revealed even more of His plan. We learned we weren’t called there to lead the Ugandans in worship. NO they worship with or without us. Rather, we were there to unify the team who was serving. It was a huge eye opener for us. Were we willing to go across the world for just that? If we were NEVER used to lead the people of Uganda were we willing to go anyway? Indeed it was. It was SUCH a blessing to lead together and learn about and walk this journey out. Our lives are forever changed from that trip. While we didn’t do it perfectly or often well… the lessons were invaluable.
When we returned from Uganda Kerri and her family moved back to North Carolina. While we were sad for our friendship we knew and trusted this was the best decision for their family. But in our hearts we knew the Lord had knitted something so deep and so special our stories weren’t done crossing.
Over the next 6 months the Lord really began to speak to Kerri about His calling on her life. He had given her a voice and began writing His songs in her heart. She humbly shared these songs with Becki and asked her to pray with her as she navigated all God was calling her out to do. In the beginning stages Becki’s sole desire was to help her friend realize a long awaited dream. She had NO idea what the Lord had in store next.
They planned a writing week together in November of 2011. We didn’t know how or what or who we would write with but we knew we had start somewhere. Becki made a few phone calls to some songwriting friends and we went from there. We just started writing. As the week progressed it was obvious we were supposed to do this record together – in UNITY. We went to lunch and both had “something” to talk to each other about… it was hilarious… we said the SAME thing. We BOTH felt we were to do it together.
From there we began to pray, brainstorm and dream. What would it be like to lay down our OWN long time “music” goals and serve ONE ANOTHER.
Our vision and purpose is unity. Plain and simple, yet not so much. It has been our experience that there is a huge lack of unity within the church, and worship… especially among women. In our own brokenness we have received and contributed to the madness so to speak. After years of wrestling with our own craziness… the solution is simple. We need Jesus. We need confession. We need transparency. We need community. We need each other.
Kerri and Becki have failed more times than we can count and will most likely continue to do so. What we have learned is that it is in our weaknesses and brokenness He is powerful. We have found when we confess all our insecurities, doubt, and fears in worship and run hard after the Lord… others catch that fire and do the same. It’s in that perfect unity the Lord does His amazing work. We simply get to watch Him show off. Healing, joy, happiness and peace ONLY comes from Him. We want to spend the rest of our lives inviting Him to lead us…
That’s our purpose of this EP. We want to invite others to worship in unity. No matter your voice, your style, your background or your musical tastes, we serve the same God, let’s run hard after Him.
SO… where do you come in? We need your help to realize this dream. We Love Kickstarter because we don’t have to do this alone, you, our friends, families, and supporters can participate in the making of this EP. In return we have come up with what we think are some fun awards for our backers, but mainly we want to make sure you get your money’s worth in free music, skype calls, writing sessions, photos and private worship events. The ONLY downfall of Kickstarter is if we don’t raise the TOTAL amount of our goal we get ZERO!!!!!!
NOTE: In any particular level, you can donate more dollars. For instance, if you want the awards at the $50 level but really want to give $100 you can do that.
No money will be collected (your card will NOT be charge) until the campaign ends at 5pm CST on May 31st.
So, what can YOU do? PRAY! Give! “Like” this on Facebook. Click to Tweet this campaign! Post a link on your Facebook page and on your friend’s Facebook page! Email your contact list! Whatever you have to do to get the word out, we would be so honored if you would do that for us.
Thanks so much for supporting this EP. We can’t wait to share these songs with you all. Be sure to visit this page for updates and countdown days!!!
With HUGE love and gratitude,
Kerri and Becki
