About this project
JJ Englert, The current Student Body President at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC), is an experienced producer and entrepreneur, as he has participated in business competitions all over the U.S. He has first-hand experience directly managing an 85,000-dollar budget while helping with SBCC’s operational budget of over 100,000,000 dollars. He has spent the past couple of years going from meeting to meeting to make certain his constituents are being heard throughout the community of Santa Barbara and California. In the Fall, JJ will attend Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, CA where he is pursuing a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Film and Video Production with an emphasis on Producing. While JJ is not attending to school or any of these duties, he is making films with all of the skills, resources and connections he has established in California.
Justin Stern, Director of Photography by day and DJ by night. Justin owns his own DJing & Lighting company called JAS Productions and helps put on weddings and special events throughout Southern California. Justin Started making movies at the age of 12, when he made his first short film. He was accepted into a specialized program in a Magnet High School focusing on Video and Film Production, and later attended the School of Media Arts at the University of Arizona, where he found his true passion for filmmaking as a cinematographer. His films have been selected for festivals, and he continues to perfect his skills while making independent films. He is a dedicated filmmaker who is chasing his dream and loves every minute of it.
What We Need & What You Get
Since we are focusing on the storyline and quality above anything else on this production, we have gathered a team and equipment list to reflect that. Luckily, with all of the resources we have, we don’t need much money! But we still have bills to pay - $4,465.00 to be exact! $4,465.00 will allow us to rent over $100,000 worth of equipment for seven days with insurance, will pay for necessary industry professionals (colorist and sound design at an extreme discounted rate), will pay for a grip truck (at 90 percent off), and will cover the cost of craft services (40% percent of cost has already been donated). All other crewmembers have agreed to donate their time and efforts, us included, because filmmaking is our passion. We aspire to submit this short film into as many film festivals as possible and to have our story told all over the world.
This is where your incentives come into play. We greatly appreciate any help we can get and that is why we have created benefits to match. Look at the benefits on your right, then look to your heart on the left, and please tell us the two don’t belong together!
You know how the saying goes, “scratch our back and we will scratch the s*** out of yours”. Well, at least that’s what my dad always told the car salesmen…. Then again, I grew up in a station wagon – decide for yourself on that one.
We have worked hard to gather all of our resources and connections and now we have procured an incredible chance to launch a full-blown seven-day production with a 25-person, handpicked, production team and cast for only $4,465.00. This is where we need help from all of you. Please, help us embark on our journey to pursue our dreams, and help us with this incredible learning opportunity. With your help, we hope to showcase our hard-work, talent and dedication in countless film festivals all around the world! Even a dollar will put us closer to our goal!
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can’t help, we understand. No, trust me, we do – we’re independent filmmakers, we are almost always broke from filming nearly everything that moves, and sometimes even stuff that doesn’t move. So, don’t worry, there are other ways you can hop on our team and help us out!
