We are, initially, looking for £500 to enable us to begin production of the first of our Kickstarter Vehicles - the Family Saloon car!
The Cars are modelled in 32mm scale and fit beautifully with a range of Tabletop and Wargames miniatures suitable for many Tabletop games and modelling projects. Plus, they look cool, and take paint beautifully.
The 3d masters for the first few designs are already with us, and we are delighted with the quality - the following photos don't show the wheels or wing mirrors, as we only have 1 set of Masters to use and don't want to go gluing them in until after we have lifted Moulds from them.
So, our initial Funding goal is £500 - this will enable us to not only mould and produce the Saloon, but also to fulfill the pledges necessary to reach the £500 goal. Once we've funded though, the fun really begins!
As we now have many designs funded, its a good time to explain the Pledges - you can pledge for as many Vehicles as you like, at any quantity and variation you like.
Simply add +£10 per design you want after the first 3.
I.e. you'd like 2 x Saloons and 2 x SUV's, simply take the £30 Pledge and add +£10.
Do you want 6 x Luxury 4x4's? Select the £30 pledge and add +£30, and so forth.. don't worry about the specific selections just now as those will be covered in the Questionnaire once the Kickstarter concludes.
You want 20 vehicles? Take the Parking Lot pledge and add +£100 - you also get 2 x FREE Tuktuk's as well!
Simply increase your pledge per additional vehicle for now and let us know later what your choices are!
NEW PLEDGE LEVEL - Parking Lot!
For £100, you will get any 10 Vehicles from those funded in the Kickstarter in any combination that you like. Want 10 x Taxis? No problem! 10 Muscle cars? Its your Parking Lot! In addition, you will receive, a FREE Tuktuk!
We will not be selling the Food Van Tuktuk - but reserve the right to use it as a giveaway in a future Kickstarter project or 2. However, if you spend £100+ or take the Parking Lot Pledge level you will receive this awesome little Tuktuk completely FREE! Additionally, this will unlock the Food Van Tuktuk for you at +£5 per Tuktuk.
Next up, the SUV!
The SUV will be funded at £1000 of Pledges, and then we hope to move onto the 4x4 Pickup!
Those are the first 3 designs, they take us nicely up to the £1500 stretch goal - but we have already designed a few more other Vehicles and hope that the journey will allow us to bring those to the tabletop as well!
In addition to funding the initial line up of the Saloon, SUV and Pickup - we are dropping in a special "Bonus Design" - the Luxury 4x4 is joining the "Funded" lineup!
Yes! Thats right, we have added in a whole 4th design as 1 of the options! The Luxury 4x4 is a high end spacious 4x4 which comes with all mod cons and is the lap of luxury.
- Keep an eye on this design, we may well revisit it slightly later in the campaign..
We have opted for a slightly retro looking Taxi cab - mainly because we think it looks stylish! This taxi has elegant lines and a little bit of chrome and would look great gracing the Streets of New York or Gotham City!
And after the taxi...?
We don't want to reveal too much too quickly.. but as we achieve each stretch goal we will reveal a new design from further down the Kickstarter Journey.
We have been teasing you with some blurry images of the Muscle car - but here it is in all of its glory! A bit of Classic American Muscle hits the road!
This is a fast car, make no mistake - now.. after this.. we really should Fund something that just might catch up with it..
So, whats after the Muscle car?
That Muscle car is packing a whole lot of Horse Power.. you just know that its going to attract the attention of the Law! Luckily, this lawkeeper is driving a high Speed Pursuit car, which should be able to at least keep up with the Muscle car!
The Delivery Van! We see them on just about every street in every town and city. The simple Delivery Van is one of the hardest working and commonplace vehicles on the roads today - and we will bring this van to your tabletop!
The Van Stretch Goal will be a two-fer..
In addition to the Delivery Van - shown above, when we fund the Van we will also add the Security Forces 4x4 to the Kickstarter as well!
I am a big fan of of Series such as Torchwood and other programmes with Men in Black type factions. I mentioned this to our Sculptor, John, and he surprised me with an armoured version of the Luxury 4x4. I can imagine a line of these very cool 4x4's being driven by some very severe men and women in black suits with earpieces and mirror shades..
I loved the surprise so much that we decided to simply add it into the Kickstarter as an option, when we unlock the van.. we unlock the Security 4x4 as well!
The People carrier, or Moms / Dads taxi! There are hundreds of these in every town and city - of all makes and models.
We are keeping this Kickstarter as simple as possible! There are 3 Pledge levels;
For the 1st Gear Pledge Level you can select any 1 Vehicle of your choice from all that we fund!
For the 2nd Gear Pledge Level you can select any 2 Vehicles of your choice from all that we fund!
For the Top Gear Pledge Level you can select any 3 Vehicles of your choice from all that we fund!
For the Parking Lot Pledge Level you can select any 10 Vehicles of your choice from all that we fund! These can be in any combination that you desire and you'll also get a FREE Exclusive KS Tuktuk Food Van!
I want more than 3 vehicles! How do I pledge?
If you want additional Vehicles, or even multiples of any that take you over the 3, simply add +£10 per additional Vehicle to your Pledge amount.
NOTE: Postage is based on 3 vehicles, if you purchase more this will be a heavier and thus more expensive Package so there will be an adjusted shipping cost when the Questionnaire is issued. We cannot tell you exactly what this will be until we know how many vehicles you want as 10 Vehicles will cost a lot more than 5 to post, and New Zealand is more expensive than Germany, for example. If in doubt - please pm us! We will always package well and ensure that we use the best and most economical post that we can for all Pledges.
How big are the cars?
Most of the "regular" cars are fairly similar in size and dimensions. They are scaled to be perfect for 32mm miniatures but with the wargames industry having such a massive array of sizes and scales - they are a good match from about 25mm to 35mm heroic scales and everything in between.
If we use the 4x4 Pickup on my painting board as an average of the overall length, width and height;
- Here is an image of a the Pickup with a range of miniatures from a variety of games to give you an idea of the size (please note - the 40k Space Marine, Mantic Miniature, Daruma SLA Character, Infinity Caledonian, Harley Quinn and Westwind German Officer miniatures are included purely to give an idea of the scale of this vehicle).
The detailing and scale on the cars is excellent! As the Campaign progresses we will reveal more vehicles but the majority are similar in size to the Pickup seen above (but not all.. some might be a bit bigger..).
In order to keep this Kickstarter as simple as possible and ensure the smoothest and quickest possible delivery times - we are avoiding too many addons. However.. the TukTuk Food van is just too cute to not offer out - you will receive it FREE at the Parking Lot Pledge level but if you'd like a TukTuk Food Van added to your pledge, simply add +£5 to your pledge level and this uber cool wee KS Exclusive will be added to your Order. Note - if you want multiple TukTuks, or are a Parking Lot Pledge whom wants more than 1 - also add +£5 per additional TukTuk Food van. Remember, the TukTuk Food van will not be available to retail or online after the Kickstarter!
You can add Tuktuk's at +£5 each to your pledge, or - as they are KS Only exclusives you can take 2 x Tuktuk's as a Vehicle choice. This keeps it fair and makes them more available whilst still keeping them exclusive. We appear to have a bit of a Tuktuk fanclub and have had many positive comments and requests on this cool wee Vehicle.
Please note - we are also going to give a few of these out as prizes and 1 or 2 will be going to Friends within the Industry as samples / prizes but the Tuktuk Foodvan will always be a very limited run and never available via Retail. Thats not to say that we may have some ideas for alternative Tuktuk's.. ;)
Our last kickstarter was only a couple of short months ago - we managed to complete and dispatch it in a short time period and the LARC KS is now complete. We are about to Retail launch it and have a 2nd wave of Casting almost ready to start for Retail and Showstock. I've had a few requests from Backers whom missed the original KS so have decided to offer them as an "addon" for the Tabletop Cars Project.
If you would like any of the following LARC designs;
SLA Shiver Gunship
Eagle Newschannel VTOL
Nightingale Medevac VTOL
If you would like any of the LARC loadouts - please add +£35 per LARC to your pledge and we will ask you which version you want.
You can see from the sample photo of the Shiver LARC - the 32mm Feaney miniature gives an idea of scale. These are surprisingly big Resin models and you also have the option of adding an acrylic flight base for an additional +£5 each.
What are they made of?
All of our vehicles will be cast in high quality resin, which holds detail superbly and offers strength and flexibility whilst still being lightweight. Our caster is looking at the options of either having them as a 1 piece cast with the wheels and wing mirrors being included in the single cast or having the Wheels and Wing mirrors as separate pieces - we will make that decision shortly but either way, the price will be the same to yourselves and the quality will be there.
When will my pledge arrive?
We have said that we are looking to deliver in January - however.. this is to give ourselves sufficient time should there be any hiccups or the Kickstarter climb higher than we anticipate. We always prefer to deliver on time or early if possible so set expectations accordingly.
Risks and challenges
Every Kickstarter comes with unique risks and challenges - and this is no exception. Resin casting has pitfalls such as mould failure, requiring new 3d prints to be made, tricky details, etc.. However - we have a good team whom are all dedicated to making this Kickstarter a reality and we have taken great care to try and cover all eventualities.
Out last Kickstarter (The LARC) was delivered nearly a full month ahead of time and in a remarkably short time frame. We have allowed extra time on the Tabletop Cars as we don't know how many backers we will get and allowing ourselves extra means we shouldn't disappoint anybody and deliver on, or ahead of time. We very much follow the Montgomery Scott philosophy on planning..
