Alteil Horizons is Happening! And, the demo is happening!
This is the best kind of win, because EVERYONE wins. "We" here doesn't mean just Apocoplay (or Apocoplay and Coreedge, wiseguy) it means all of you. We get to spend our days making the best game we can possibly make with help from the advice, comments and observations of the best backers on Kickstarter, and you get to play it. What could be better?
Hmm, maybe if we were all eating ice cream while doing it? That might be better... Very well, eat ice cream while playing Alteil, with our blessing! I know I'll be eating some while making it...
So, anxious to get started? Good! Let's get into it!
First, let me explain how the demo is going to work. We're going to message everyone who is a backer through Kickstater starting sometime tomorrow afternoon. You must check your Kickstarter messages to get access to the demo! Since we will be sending you a unique link and Kickstarter doesn't exactly have Mail Merge, we will be sending them out one at a time. We will be getting through them as soon as humanly possible.
In the message there will be a link. Click on the link, and it will give you a prompt to create an alpha account. Once you do, you will be given FOUR ADDITIONAL URL's! These are so you can share the alpha with up to four friends of your choosing. Now, you are not JUST letting them see this demo, you'll actually be giving them the ability to make Alpha accounts of their own that will let them participate in further Alphas and tech Demos and such as we go through the process of finishing Alteil Horizons. Although, you will have a "backer" alpha account and they will have a "guest" one, so degrees of access can be assigned down the road (hint - backer is better than guest -- just maybe, they won't be allowed to eat ice cream while playing).
Once you load it up in your browser (currently, it is only set up for CHROME), you can play with it as much as you want and replay it from the beginning if you'd like. But for security reasons, for now this demo can only be loaded up once per day. It also works fine on mobile devices (or should) but we haven't done much optimizing so it might be slow (and the animated backgrounds don't work yet). The demo itself is single player content, it is basically what you can expect from the first tutorial-type missions. It's excellent for new players. If you're a player of Alteil 1, I recommend you go through the third battle a few times, summoning different units to get a feel for what it's like playing in the new engine.
Important! If you are a backer from the first (September) Kickstarter but are NOT yet a backer on the new one, you must email me at email@example.com or message 'Apocoplay LLC' on Kickstarter to get your link!
Also, awesome article about us from J Station X, they really took the extra time to make us look good! Big thanks to J Station X! http://jstationx.com/interview-alteil-horizons-project-leader-sean-molyneaux/
Thank you again, everyone. And remember, the fun is just beginning!
