last week's mystery artist announcement was our most popular ever...
but the real secret is there were TWO mystery artists the whole time!
Our second mystery artist is Woody Hearn from GU comics!
Hearn has really outdone himself this time with the heavily armored and
mounted Folrart Knight Captain. As the illustrator of a comic about
gamers that has done more than it's share of World of Warcraft and other
fantasy game strips, Woody is no stranger to armored knights. The
Captain here came out great, possibly my favorite piece by Woody to
Folrart Knight Captain is more than just a nice card to have, it's a
staple card. Each Sphere of influence has its main subtype, a deck-type
that employs its most numerous array of units. For Refess (yellow) it's
the Solar Kingdom, a huge kingdom-turned-empire under control of the the
royal family of Folrart and the True God Church. Their units are known
for sun motifs and disciplined ranks of armored soldiers.
Folrart Knight Captain is the main subtype buffer of the Solar Kingdom
-- and since Refess (yellow) cards are known for working together --
guess what, their main subtype buffer is a key card. The Moon Duchy of
Crest, -- the primary subtype for Lawtia (violet) -- for example, can be
it's main subtype buffer, since Crest decks tend to rely on different
strategies. For Solar Kingdom, though, group buffing is king. And
Folrart Knight Captain's +10 to AT (attack) and +5 to DF (defense) for
all friendly Solar Kingdom units can go a long way. Put him on the
front lines with a Sunlight Knight, who gives another +5 DF bonus to all
Refess (yellow) units and starts with a hefty 30 base Attack, and you've a
great start to your field.
you'll be seeing a lot of the Captain, having alternate art is very
much appreciated. Woody's take on the Folrart Knight Captain is the very
first piece of alternate art
for the card, so this is your chance to mix up your art choices for
your Solar Kingdom decks. Everyone backing at $20 or above gets a copy
of Woody's card, and if you're in at $50 or higher, you get 3 copies
(complete playset). Of course, you're free to mix and match copies of
the original Captain and Woody's in a deck if you want, for example with
1 copy of Woody's and 2 copies of the original.
we still have a surprise or two up our sleeves... almost makes you
wonder what big suprises we have in store for next week, the LAST week
of our Kickstarter (hint, hint)!
