Tying and untying your laces is one of the most repeated acts a runner performs. The majority of runners tie double knots so they don’t trip over loose laces but struggle like us with untying them.
Laces and cords are here to stay but with ClickTight you can eliminate the headache of double knots with one simple “Click”.
Please don't replace the laces that came with your shoes. ClickTight does not require you to replace your shoelaces but is designed to clench the majority of athletic shoelaces.
There are a lot of different possibilities to use the ClickTight. Heres two of our favorite.
Tested over thousands of miles by professional and recreational athletes our system stays Tight and is durable. The exact durability has not been lab tested but our first prototypes have Clicked Tight for over 1,5 years... With exception to the one the dog chewed up.
THE PRODUCT: CLICKTIGHT
ClickTight has been developed in cooperation with TNO, the premier Dutch Technical Research Institute and has been a finalist in the 2012 Philips Innovation Awards competition and the New Venture Business Plan Competition.
The focus of the R&D has been on finding between the exact right plastic in combination with the different proportions of the products functional elements. Our cooperation with TNO led to the development of a technically excellent product which has been already patented.

WHY A KICKSTARTER?
The mold of the ClickTight prototype is ready. We are very grateful to all those who over the last couple of years have given us their feedback in order so that we could be where we are today. Now after patenting our solution and setting up the production in China we need your support to pay for a production mold to handle the mass production and to cover the initial production and distribution costs.
We have worked really hard over the last 2 years and are currently in the most exciting phase any start-up can be in… The launch! THE ORIGINS OF CLICKTIGHT
While surfing in Mexico, I realized that the only way to keep his board shorts from falling off was to double-knot its laces. This also meant a cumbersome knot pressing in my stomach while lying flat on my board. On the beach, I drew some initial designs of a flat lace-lock system.
As soon as the first prototypes where made I realized this technology had wider applications, particularly for athletes who habitually use a double-knot to tie their shoelaces. Tying shoelaces is one thing; untying another, and a nuisance after a sport activity. For example for the runners market we believe we can make the experiences less cumbersome.
Back in Amsterdam I met up with Hans Koeleman to further the design. Hans Koeleman is a freethinker who believes there is a creative solution to every problem on earth. Educated at universities in the United States, the arenas of two Olympic Games and the work floor at Nike, he is embedded with a fairly impatient drive for excellence and innovation. Thankfully he recognized the immense potential of ClickTight and became a crucial contributor to its further development.
ClickTights with customizable lens
In cooperation with a Dutch company we have made a 2 cavity prototype mould with which we have made the first prototypes for the easily customizable ClickTights (The tested functional base to which a customizable lens design can be added) . These are not only functioning well but also look pretty sweat if we may say so ourselves. In order to accomplish adding the highest quality design to the customizable lens on top of the clickTight we have worked with separate suppliers and have chosen for the one we have the best experiences with delivering the highest quality. Depending on demand, we will produce a multiple cavity mould. This will take about 4 weeks before we can start production.
As you can see we are also introducing an all plastic version called ClickTight colors. This is without a separate lens. For this we will change one half of the mould which is taking place right now. For the packaging we are working with Paperfoam. An innovative packaging manufacturer here in the Netherlands who makes the packaging from a secret potato starch mix. This part of the packaging is compostable, light weight, has a low carbon foot print and is made of renewable raw materials that are locally sourced. For this we still need to make the mould and will start doing this when our campaign is successful. Once we have the necessary funding in, it will take 4 weeks before we can start producing on a large scale.
Bringing it all together In order to send you the finished product we will bring all components, produced by 3 different manufacturers, together and assemble these and send them out. Our critical path analysis has shown that we will be able to ship the products when the moulds for the packaging are done. Including the shipping time from China we therefore count that after completion of the campaign we will start shipping the first ClickTights 3 months later.

Risks and challenges
Our goal is to produce every pair of ClickTight defect free. The experience of our production partners should prevent most of the obstacles related to mass production and distribution. Our patents and all the tests performed on both the prototype mold and the prototype Clicktight enable us to guarantee a top quality product.
The main challenge we expect to face is handling the logistics for the mass production and fulfillment.
Regarding the mass production we will handle the production of all the domes with the different design in parallel with the tooling of the production mold in China. Having already tested both services we expect no delays in this stage.
The major risk is to face unforeseeable delays related to the shipping from China to our distribution center in Amsterdam and US, like customs clearance or delayed shipment from the factory.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
