If you were affected by Hurricane Sandy I hope you made it through the storm OK, and things are beginning to return to normal.
The New Yorkers book project is going to be sent to the printer very shortly. I want to thank all of you, my backers from kickstarter,
for all your patience. I know it's been quite a while since my last
update. But making a book is a long haul and I want to fill you in on
the process: there are many pieces to the puzzle to making The New Yorkers a reality.
It all started with the original images that you all so
enthusiastically responded to, for which I am so grateful. The original slides were then drum-scanned to make beautiful reproductions for the book.
Fabricant, who has
designed books for Alex Webb and for Aperture, has done a masterful
job of creating the look for The New Yorkers that I hope you will all
appreciate for years to come. I am so thrilled with the new cover! I hope you are too.
The Curator of Prints and Photographs at the Museum of the City of New York, Sean Corcoran, has just completed the foreword and I am so pleased that his insightful writing will introduce The New Yorkers.
All of this has been accomplished and now I'm in the homestretch.
I am working with a color consultant who will faithfully translate the final images and my wishes to the printer and realize this vision for the actual pages in the book. And finally, I'll be working with the printer to produce the book you've all been waiting for.
early February, the books will have been shipped to NYC, and I will begin
sending all of the rewards to all of you. If you are waiting for a post
card or for a print as well as the book please know they will all be
sent out immediately after the books arrive.
Recently The New Yorkers was featured on Lenscratch, an influential photo blog. It contains images from the book and some new writing by me. It is a great post and it has received quite a bit of attention.
And finally as you can probably guess, the kickstarter funds didn't cover all of the expenses. Fractured Atlas, a 501c, has chosen to make The New Yorkers one of their supported projects.
I hope as the year comes to a close, you can help defray some of the printing costs by making a 100% tax deductible contribution. Your contribution will be held in a restricted fund that has been specifically established to support The New Yorkers, a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas.

It would be so appreciated if you could please resend this email to anyone who might be interested in finding out
more about The New Yorkers.
Without your help and belief, this project would not have happened.
Thanks again to all of you for your support and your patience.
Have a great holiday season.
