It's settled then. I'll just play 2 investigators! Double the stories, double the narrative fun! Yay! ^_^ Thanks @Kory and @Viktor!
Kory points out a valid point. This (and the ancient relics expansion, which we are going to show you today) is not compatible with single player mode, as you would need an ally to rescue you from being trapped in the otherworld. We are not strictly closed to the idea of change and try to make some improvements on the idea, to be more compatible, but as it stands now it's not playable solo.
However if you wish to take control of 2 investigators and play by yourself it is possible. We actually had reviewers play that way (with the base game) and (to our biggest surprise) they had a very good time, according to their feedback :) .
This way it could be similar to games where you control your own small team (like Baldur's gate, X-com, etc.. your personal squad -->sorry only PC games come to my mind right now)
But this is only an Idea, how someone could play this expansion alone :).
@Marcel technically that would be playing at least two investigators. As the description mentions "Only if all criteria are fulfilled, from both the outside world and from within the dimension, can the Investigators be freed from this wretched place."
Which you could do by yourself normally, but it's then not truly solo.
Normally I would fully understand why this expansion cannot be played in solo mode - it makes sense when reading the description above, right? Howeveeeeeeer... if one considers all the investigators that you have at hand, you could also consider the investigator trapped inside the other dimension, shelf your one investigator for the time being, introduce a new, temporary one, who then has to continue the game and if (s)he closes the portal, the original investigator comes back and now you get to play with them again. Would this work?
