About

Slushin' Roulette is a party game that's like playing Russian Roulette, but more fun... Oh, and it makes everyone the life of the party through hilariously awkward activities and interactions. It can be played with one to six people (but with a little creativity, you can play with even more people).

You're probably wondering...

Additionally, let's make something clear: the act of playing Slushin' Roulette does not require the consumption of alcohol. Not one bit. You can drink lemonade, coffee, potato chips, or nothing at all. It really doesn't matter. And if you do imbibe, you must be 21+. And you must do it responsibly.

What's included in the game?

A lot of awesome stuff.

Slushin' Roulette has been in development for several years, existing in multiple embodiments, to make sure that once the product was sent to our customers, we'd have every detail considered and refined.

Every Slushin' Roulette game comes with:

  • One base (this is what you put your glasses into so that they light up)
  • Six 1.5 ounce plastic glasses (this is where you put your beverage)
  • Six silicon wristbands (this is how you know which slot is yours)
  • 100 plastic water resistant cards (95 cards we've created that will make you LOL, and 5 blank cards for you to fill out because you're the funniest people alive)

 As for the cards...

We have a nice assortment of prompts ranging in morality from "oh, this isn't too bad" to "oh God, please don't let my parole officer see me doing this!", but everything works out because we're all friends here!

By the way, we're not doing any of that "You get an extra NSFW deck, YAY!".

No, you're getting all of the cards in one deck.  100 cards, commingling together, in one big deck of fun and humility.

We're already working with our manufacturer to make sure that the final product lives up to all of our expectations and standards (to put it into perspective, we drink craft beer, so...). Remember, amid claims toward the contrary, a product needs to put function before form.A strong relationship is one that has back and forth, and that holds true for a manufacturer and a designer.  Our vendor is assisting in making this game as resilient as a party game can be.  It needs to withstands the clumsy spills, and glasses dropping on the tile floor.  What comes with that are modifications to form factor.  For instance, the gaudy glowing button shown in the videos and pictures may not be the final button specified.  In fact, it probably isn't because while it looks pretty, the glowing ring does nothing for the game whatsoever, and the recessed face makes the button harder to push!

While waiting to get served at a local watering hole, inventor, Mark Brandon, randomly had the words "slushin'" and "roulette" enter his mind. Yes, he's bizarre.

This bar was pretty slow with the service, so Mark had time to think about what this term would actually mean. Was "Slushin' Roulette" a game that crazy cowboys would play after too much shine at the saloon?

Being an engineering student, Mark used his nerdiness to laser cut a shell and wire up some components.  Add in a little bit of programming, and the first prototype of Slushin' Roulette existed.

The original goal for this game was to have something fun to play with roommates and friends.  However, after getting continuously positive feedback from players, alongside with requests for their own copy of the game, it became clear that this thing had some legs.

Mark took to the local maker space, NextFab studio, to continue his development and throw together some high quality prototypes.   It was here that Slushin' Roulette has grown over the past two years into the gem of a game that it is today.

Good news...

We've backed plenty of KickStarter campaigns, and we've surveyed and studied hundreds more.  That means that we know what it takes to have a successful campaign with diligent follow up and timely delivery. On top of that, we've teamed up with a top notch manufacturer whom specializes in bringing these types of things to fruition.

We know you're wondering "when will Slushin' Roulette show up at my door?!?!".  Our manufacturing and logistics timeline is all laid out and ready for your viewing pleasure.

Risks and challenges

Our design process focused on the philosophy of KISS (keep it simple, stupid). What we mean is that while the product is new, novel, and custom, aside from the plastic injection molded parts and custom prints (cards/box), the components are all off the shelf. We have no new technologies to prove, and no new manufacturing processes to develop. There's simply some liquid plastic that needs to be shot into some metal molds, and ink to be squirted onto some cardboard.

In order to mitigate the natural risks that come with the initial manufacturing run of a product, we've teamed up with a supplier who has brought dozens of successful KickStarter campaigns to fruition.

As you'll see in the timeline above, our manufacturing timeline puts mass production right in the Christmas season. You could only imagine that manufacturing plans can become pretty derailed during that timeframe due to a huge push for increased inventory. What we're saying is "let's hope that Santa's elves pull through for all the other companies so that we can maintain our fulfillment timeline!"
