From 2008-2010, Celtophilia.com was a Celtic Music Blog. It was a lot of fun to write for, and we met a lot of great people who were making awesome music. Like so many things it fell by the wayside as priorities shifted and new projects came along. I kept the site active, but without new content it really didn't get many visitors. I always envisioned relaunching the site, though, when the right idea and circumstances came along. That time has come!
This Spring, the site will relaunch as Celtophilia Tee Company, offering hand-printed t-shirts with a mix of Celtic Band & Musician-licensed designs and original Celtic music-themed designs. One thing I've noticed over the years is that a lot of bands don't offer shirts, either because they don't want to deal with having them printed themselves, or don't want to use an expensive print-on-demand site to only get a few dollars apiece per shirt in return. I want Celtophilia Tee Company to be a solution to both of those problems, and allow any Celtic musician to offer shirts to their fans if they want to.
I've found a great group of musicians from all over the U.S. to license their names and/or logos to me, come up with a few original designs, and am ready to get the site going.
There are a couple of reasons I am running this Kickstarter to launch the site. The main one is that the site itself is not ready yet, and I want it to be as nice, clean, and user-friendly a website as possible. Kickstarter gives me a way to begin offering the shirts to you while I finish the site.
The other reason is that there are still a couple of pieces of equipment I need to purchase to round out my production line. The $1000 goal will give me just enough to buy the equipment I need, pay royalties on the licensed designs sold, and produce then ship the shirts that you order. Any money above and beyond that will go toward further improvements for the website and marketing.
The real stars of the Celtophilia Tee Company story. I can't say enough wonderful things about the folks who have agreed to license their designs to me.
The Kickstarter Goal has been reached, an we can start looking at the stretch goals! The $5k goal is unlocked. If we make it to $5000, we will make 4 more original Celtophilia designs available for you to choose from!
Risks and challenges
There really aren't any risks associated with the project itself. 90% of the equipment and supplies needed to start producing the t-shirts are already in place.
The biggest challenge will be getting the t-shirts ordered through the Kickstarter produced and shipped.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
