Kegels for Hegel will have our first performance April 19. We are also buying equipment to record new songs. We hope Kegel-ers for Hegel will help us offset the costs of these projects, and in return, we will make you some awesome K4H swag.

Here’s information about our upcoming performance:

Fucking with Philosophers, a Kegels for Hegel performance, is part of We'd love your company, A project with Ethan Breckenridge, curated by Michelle Y. Hyun, UAG Curatorial Fellow 2012-2014.

Kegels for Hegel is a conceptual project that makes music. Straddling philosophical smutcore and tongue in chic, Kegels for Hegel is an open collaboration of academics and artists that works the brain as well as the pelvic floor.

We will perform the songs:

I Wanna Fight you to the Death (Love Song to G.W.F. Hegel)
Bite Me (Love Song to Friedrich Nietzsche)
Sexual Selection (Love Song to Charles Darwin)
Thing (Love Song to Karl Marx and Friends)
Porno for Adorno (Love Song to Theodor Wiesengrund Adorno)

-Chicken Himmel filmed and edited by kate hers, featuring the Kegels for Hegel song, “Bite me (Love Song to Friedrich Nietzsche)”
- I Wanna Fight you to the Death (Love Song to GWF Hegel) Filmed by Kegels for Hegel and edited by Christiana Laragues

We will provide links to the music videos on Facebook soon after the performance!

Risks and challenges

Kegels for Hegel's performance will take place at 6:30 pm April 19 at the University Art Gallery at the University of California San Diego. We will be singing four songs and presenting two videos. We do not have set completion dates for the rest of the songs and videos.

Kegels for Hegels rewards require a number of tools and skills, some we have, some we hope to attain. We might need to produce some of them professionally, which becomes more tenable the larger the order.

    Kegels for Hegel Shirt
    All over your chest:
Plan A: Each second hand shirt is a one-of-a-kind artifact designed and screenprinted by yours truly. Leave it to the “cunning of reason” to produce a garment that may be guayabera or button down, cut up or collared, long-sleeved or short. Tell us if you like your philosophy “Small”, “Medium,” “Large,” or “Extra Large.”
*Original shirts purchased from Revivals, a San Diego thrift shop whose proceeds benefit Desert AIDS Project – an organization that provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the desert community.
Plan B: Theory and practice are sometimes two different things: If our hands were made for writing and not screenprinting, we will get professionals involved to print our stunning logo on new, mass produced shirts.
