In Italia ancora non si sono visti film di lungometraggio realizzati in stop-motion, ma possiamo affermare che vari progetti sono in cantiere e ci auguriamo che possano a breve trovare la giusta strada produttiva. Si fa intanto molto lavoro di ricerca, si realizzano cortometraggi, l’animazione a passo uno è insegnata nelle scuole, come ad esempio allo IED Roma (https://www.ied.it/roma/scuola-arti-visive/corsi-specializzazione/animazione–stop-motion/CRAVBNI001_01 ) e bisogna assolutamente segnalare una novità tecnica tutta italiana: la produzione di un’armatura per burattini interamente sviluppata e realizzata nel nostro paese. Grande attenzione è stata posta anche sull’utilizzo di soluzioni innovative per l’uso più largo dell’armatura. Di particolare nota è il sistema di fissaggio rapido utilizzato per gli arti e il collo, che permette di creare diverse mani, piedi e teste, pur mantenendo lo stesso corpo. L’arto viene rimosso con estrema facilità e sostituito con un altro. L’attacco rapido è realizzato mediante lavorazione CNC in acciaio inox. Il torso superiore è realizzato completamente in carbonio in tre diverse versioni: una base, una sezione rinforzata migliorata per giunti di spalla e un altro con un collo dinamica speciale.

GEORGE® is available now in this Kickstarter campaign in the SL-SERIES size 10" (25cm) . The SL-SERIES is completely made by carbon fiber, stainless steel with quick attachments in aluminum. The joints have spheres with a larger diameter and the hands are made by aluminum. A particular challenge was the solution to the carbon bonding and stainless steel parts. After long and severals tests of glues with different polymerization processes, we decided to choose an aeronautical glue and defined a specific polymeriation process. The first studies to create a highly innovative professional product were undertaken in early 2015. The decision was immediately taken to use a material that had never been adopted in the animation sector: CARBON FIBRE. The products and armatures (the supporting skeleton of the puppets used for the creation of videos) currently on the market are all in metal, carbon or stainless steel. These are quite light but rather unreliable and may deform when subject to stress. In contrast, carbon fibre is extremely light, yet rigid and will not deform. The project was developed in various phases. First, a long period of meticulous solid modelling generated the first version of the armature. It featured: - limb stems made 100% from carbon rod - joint plates from carbon sheet cut and worked with CNC machining centre - hip block and other large parts from thick carbon sheet cut and worked with CNC machining centre - spherical joints in perforated and rectified stainless steel. The carbon sheets are cut and worked by tool machinery, controlled by CNC to guarantee the highest level of precision and cutting quality. The carbon rods are rounded and 3mm in diameter.
As a result, GEORGE® has become a versatile, precisely calibrated professional tool for artists and animators to create their own images.
