THE TOY THAT LETS HIM BE A GOOD BOY
You might have ended up here by pure luck, or you clicked on a link after realizing it is the answer to all your dog's prayers. Either way, we're ecstatic that you're here! We're not here to waste your time, so we'll cut straight to the point.
Tearribles are the first line of innovative dog toys that cater to dogs' prey instincts. They are interactive toys that your dog can "tear apart" over and over again, and you can put right back together in seconds.
Tearribles come in different sizes, contain a corresponding-size squeaker, and a patented pocket compartment that allows limbs, tail, and/or tentacles to be detached and reattached to the toy over, and over, and over again...without actually destroying the toy. How cool is that? Finally a dog toy built with dog's needs and instincts in mind!
Tearribles are made of strong plush, and lined with durable mesh for added support. The limbs (and tail) are attached to the toy via industrial-strength velcro, by being tucked into the patented "pockets" in the body of the toy.
The toys have been tested and approved by Emma, a full grown boxer, an 80lb pit bull, and the rest of my pack. Our test Tearribles have been with us for 60 days, and aside from being very slobbery, there is not a single hole or tear in them.
Our goal with this Kickstarter is to fund the first order of Tearribles.
Our vision is to change the way dog toys are built- with the dog, not money, in mind. Vast majority of current dog toys are built cheaply, and are based on children's stuffed toy model...the problem is that dogs' instincts are much different than children's. This is not an accident- big companies want you to have to come back and buy more toys from them.
Here at Tearribles, we want your dog to have his favorite toy for a long time...without your wallet having to suffer.
I've always been a dog lover. I'm that person who goes to a party and makes friends with the dog. Needless to say, I have spent my entire life around dogs and I am very grateful for that. I'm not going to bore you with details of my life- instead I will tell you about one moment in it that "knocked over the first Domino."
A few years ago I was on a local high kill shelter's website when I saw the most heart-wrenching photo of a little brown female dog who has been at the crowded shelter for a week. Her "due out" date was the next day. She had a big tumor on the side of her face, had a horrible skin infection, was missing hair all over her body, and looked absolutely terrified.
"I already have three dogs of my own and I could not possibly get another one" I thought to myself "I can't save them all."
So two hours later, I was at the shelter, signing her adoption papers. I named her Emma.
I promised to myself that I will buy her some time by fostering her while I nurse her back to health, and find her a good home. Turns out that my Mia (reindeer in photo above) was looking for a dog and ended up adopting her. What a coincidence...
Anyway, you're probably wondering "Where is this Domino moment?!" Here it comes:
See, although Emma listens very well and is a wonderful dog, she has a little problem. She is a destructo-dog. Emma's prey instincts are stronger than your average dog's. A new toy lasts her an average of 30 seconds. She usually goes straight for the limbs, and dismembers the poor thing beyond recognition. So one day I came home from work to find my bedroom COVERED in shreds of my yoga mat, wooden blinds, a box containing shoes I was meaning to return to the store, and some tennis balls. Emma had no clue who did that.
As I was picking up the remains of my finely-shredded, brand new, $40 yoga mat I thought to myself "It would be really nice if I could just put this thing back together instead of buying a new one." And there it hit me! I will make her a toy that she can destroy over and over again, and I can just put back together. After 9 months of planning, drawing, trial and error, Tearribles were born.
Dogs are instinct-driven beings. You might have noticed some "strange" things they do and wondered why on Earth they are doing them. Some of the examples include digging around their bed before laying down, burying their toys and food, chasing after squirrels, fetching, scavenging for food in the trash can (or the pantry...or the coffee table), and of course instantly dismembering any stuffed toy you put in front of them.
All those behaviors are instinct-driven and are a part of the genetic make up that has helped them survive and evolve for thousands of years. Over the centuries dogs have acquired the status of man's best friend, and rightfully so. But even though humans and dogs get along so well and have some behavioral similarities and needs, we are not the same. We have different needs and priorities. We cannot measure dog intelligence and needs with a human yardstick. The Nobel prize-winning Physicist Albert Einstein once said: "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Yet for decades, dogs' needs and intelligence have been measured with the human yardstick, providing us with dog toys and products made with human convenience and appeal in mind, often neglecting to address dogs' instinctual and intellectual needs.
Here at Tearrible Instincts we wholeheartedly believe that dog products should enhance the well being and mental stimulation of dogs, and are on a mission to make it happen- starting with Tearribles!
Welcome to the revolution.
We are just weeks away from making Tearribles a reality for thousands of dogs. Are you going to be a part of the revolution?

Risks and challenges
We're not the kind of people that want to waste anyone's time. Time is important, which is exactly why we did all work, testing, prototyping, and research before we decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign. Tearribles are a great product that we believe will be a game changer.
Our biggest challenge is money. To make financial sense, launching Tearribles into production and getting them in front of people takes a lot of money. The kind of money we do not have.
As you know, Kickstarter is an all or nothing platform. This means that if this project gets funded, we succeed. If it does not, we are back to square one, and your pledge is refunded.
You should receive your Tearribles within 100 days of the project being funded.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
