About this project
My project is the children's book: "Juggling Through The Jungle." Juggling Through The Jungle is a fictional story based on a boy's adventure through a jungle filled with animals who each have some helpful insight to share with Jacob the Juggler. It's a one-of-a-kind story that blends the excitement, challenge, and novelty of juggling (both metaphorically and literally) with the unqiue insights that these special jungle animals have to offer. There are very few fictional story picturebooks about juggling available for kids, so this book fills a niche to reach kids through a unique story about juggling and life.
I am going to use this picture book and story to inspire children when I give motivational juggling presentations and talks. Mascot Books is my publisher and we are currently in the first stage of the publishing process. The story involves juggling, jungle animals, positive life skills, and unique dialogue that will entertain and inspire both kids and adults.
Using this book and the story at motivational presentations will be a huge asset to complement the material I present. I hold World Records for the 1st and fastest person to:
Juggle an ENTIRE Triathlon (1hr 57min)
Run a Backwards Marathon for 26.2 miles while Juggling (5hr 51min).
In my book, the main character learns to juggle his way around an alligator and many other water-dwelling animals who are "testing his skills!"
The main character in my book learns about "drops" in life because jugglers learn to accept drops as a part of the learning process, and that "the only bad drop is the one you don't pick up."
These juggling endurance world records are the vehicle to connect and inspire kids to go for their dreams. The skills and positive habits I've learned to live by, and that have allowed me to set these records, are within the Juggling Through The Jungle book.
Why do I need your support?
100% of your donations will go towards the publishing costs of this book, through Mascot Books Publishing, to cover illustration costs, printing, editing, etc. Your support will help make a dream of mine come true: which is to reach more kids through juggling stories, and this is one story that will reach them, believe me! It will come alive when they read it, and it will electrify their imagination when they SEE it come alive during my motivational juggling presentations as well!
It's already "in the air" and "up and running." I just need some support from you, to make sure it "lands in the hands" of the kids who will enjoy it, allowing them to "catch" the excitement of what juggling reminds us all.
Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges:
Just like in juggling, I expect some "ups" and "downs" during the publishing process that go along with creating a book. The path to creating something worthwhile always has challenges.
The main risk I foresee is not having a successfully funded kickstarter project, which would create delays in the publishing process. My goal is for a 2,000 copy print run, so the kickstarter project will fund 67% of that cost. Since I am in the beginning stage of the publishing process with Mascot Books, it would be unfortunate to have a slight delay in funding, but not devastating. If my kickstarter project "dropped" and didn't succeed with its funding goal, then I wouldn't give up. I'd just "pick up the dropped ball" and like all good jugglers, I'd figure out another way to get it "back into the air!"
I've been juggling casually for over 20 years, hardcore for over 7 years, and doing motivational speaking/juggling for around 3-5 years. I've worked very hard to accomplish some really interesting and difficult juggling world records. I've worked hard to create unique and engaging motivational juggling talks. For me, the challenge left is to promote the book once it's finished and financially supported, and then keep building a good 30-45min presentation that goes along with the book's story to use during my talks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
