About

FiSH DeCK -   A fun card game.

One deck of over 60 cards.
Ages - 10 and up (recommended)
Players - 3-5 (recommended)
Different games that can be played with the deck: - Several

The goal of the game is to be the first angler to catch their limit (have no cards left).

Players: 3-7
60+ Card deck.

The Host shuffles the deck and deals 5(try it with 7, also) cards to each angler(player).

Host places 1 card face up on the table, & places the remainder of the deck(the deep) face down.

Before play begins, each angler will place 3 of their cards face up in front of them, keeping 2 cards hidden to the other anglers,

Anglers should each be holding 2 cards. Fishing begins with the player to the left of the dealer.

On their turn, anglers may “fish the deep,” by drawing a card from the deck.

or they may instead “fish the shallows,” taking the top card in the discard pile.

They may add to their trophy case after their turn, (by spreading two cards in the same fish family) assuming they have the right cards. Two cards in a fish family are required to make a match. The family members are printed on the corner of each card. Once an angler matches two, they place the pair aside face up, and the two cards are no longer in play.

When an angler draws a card, at the end of their turn they must discard 1 card from the cards they have facing up(stringer cards) or the cards hidden in their hand(boat cards).

Anglers holding a card that’s in the same family as an already matched pair, on their turn may spread that card onto the existing match, removing 1 card from their hand.

Anglers cannot take special cards from the shallows. The shallows are “dead” if a special card is showing.

Old Boot: Can be used to spread with a second Old Boot.

Bait: Discarding a bait card Bait can be used to draw an extra card from the deep. It must be used on your turn. You also get to discard an extra card that turn. King Minnow is NOT bait!

Fish Thief!: Discarding fish thief cards allow you to take a single stringer card from another angler. Be wary as this may help THEM as much as it helps YOU. This counts as your turn, and you do not fish till the next round.

Bigfoot: What a special boy he is. When discarded, he allows you to take 2 stringer cards from any other angler, or 1 each from 2, anglers and replace them with cards you want to get rid of. Or you could just swap them to be mean.

The game ends when a player is the first to CATCH THEIR LIMIT (have no cards left).

Rules STILL IN BETA

2-4 players.
Ages 8 and up.

10 fish families are separated from the deck, the remainder of the deck is placed aside. Dealer shuffles the separated portion and deals one card face down to each player. The rest of the cards are placed face down on the table in an orderly manner and become the play field.

-- Play begins to the left of the dealer.

-- Gameplay --

On their turn, a player turns reveals a card in the play field.

-- They may then reveal a second card, attempting to make a family of 3 fish. If the second card matches the first, they may turn over a third card to attempt a match.

-- If the second card doesn't match the first, the turn is over, the field cards are returned to face down position, and the next player goes. The same rule applies if the third card doesn't match the first two.

-- Scoring --

A player scores when they successfully make a match of 3. The player then picks up those 3 cards and puts them to their side.

-- Special Cards --

The single card in a player's hand may be played on a player's turn. They may look at the card. It will match 2 cards in the field. The player may use it to score on a family that the other players may not.

-- Winning --

The player with the most matches at the end of the game is the winner.

-- Tie Breaker --

If there's a tie among final winners, another hand can be played between them to settle it.

3-6 players.
Ages 8 and up.

Dealer shuffles the deck and deals 7 cards face down to each player.

The rest of the deck is scattered face down on the table, creating the pond.

-- Gameplay --

On their turn, a player may ask any other player if they have fish from a specific family. For example, they may ask the player across from them if that player has any Bass. If that player does have any bass, they must give them to the person that asked.

-- If they don't have what the player is asking for, they may say "Go Fish" and the player has to draw a card from the pond.

-- Scoring --

-- Players must have at least one card in a family before asking another player for cards in that family.

-Players score by completing a family.

-Completed families are placed next to the completing player to keep track of scores.

-Play continues until someone has no cards left in their hand.

-- Winning --

-The player with the most catches(completed families) wins.

-- Tie Breaker --

-If there's a tie among final winners, it's just a tie, live with it.

2-4 players.
Ages 6 and up.

Dealer shuffles the deck and deals 2 stacks of cards to each player.

-- The first stack gets 10 cards & players aren't allowed to look at them.

-- The second stack gets 3 cards and players can see these.

-- Play begins with everyone throwing a card from their blind stack.

-- The card with the largest weight class wins the round.

-- If there is a tie, it is settled by the results of the next round.

-- After the first round, players may throw from either of their stacks.

-- Play continues until all cards in both stacks have been used.

-- Winning --

-- The winner player is the one who won the most rounds.

-- Tie Breaker --

-- If there's a tie among final winners, another hand can be played between them to settle it.

My name is Joey Andrews and for a long time, I've wanted to design games. Lacking the resources and manpower to produce the high end video games I've wanted to make, I put some of my game play elements and ideas into designing table top games. The games are fun, and I've found a passion for something I didn't know I possessed.

I'm using this Kickstarter to raise funds to complete the design, beta test and purchase inventory of my card game FiSH DeCK. Any funds left after fulfillment are to be used to purchase extra inventory of the game and start my indie Table Top game publishing company. I'd also like to hire another designer to help me with this and a companion card game I am designing, so here's hoping a lot of people get excited about this game.

I plan to produce and ship them as quickly as possible following the close of this Kickstarter. My current target ship date is the last week in July or the first week in August. I'll email everyone with shipping details as their reward is sent out.

THE GAME is a 2-5 player tonk-like fishing card game. You play by making spreads, but there are many twists and obstacles in your way. I've created bonus cards that can upset the balance of a game if played wisely. And chance has a role, too. The game includes a standard 6-sided die. In some cases, pure chance will determine your next move! I'm trying to create a visually beautiful game as well as a fun one. I'm designing over 60 cards myself, giving special attention to each to make mini portraits that capture character. The game moves fast, the cards look good, and the deck is well balanced to make strategy a huge factor in winning.

MAKE SURE to read my project updates. Those come straight from me and keep you informed on the status of the project. Also, they may contain hints to some of the creatures in the game that aren't yet revealed or created. Also, new fish will be designed or revealed every week.

The big question is, "Will you get to try FiSH DeCK?" If this kickstarter succeeds then you'll get your chance.

Risks and challenges

I foresee virtually no problem completing this project and fulfilling its rewards. The game is cheap to make and distribute, and I have multiple options for having the card decks manufactured, packaged and shipped.

In order to minimize failure risks, I am planning this project very carefully. I believe the key to the success of this game falls on whether or not I can make a high quality product. The game is fun, people will want to play it. If the unforeseen does happen, and I am unable to meet fulfillment, then I can and will subcontract work to help me complete fulfillment.
