I have the amazing opportunity to be a featured artist at the upcoming Aloha for Yokohama Hawaiian Festival where I will finally be able to share the Hawaiian Spirit of Aloha with the people affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. It has been just over a year since the disaster and now more than every is the time to bring our Aloha and love to the Japanese people. There is still a lot of work to be done and many people in need, and I look at this as a great opportunity to share what I love about Hawaii with friends and strangers alike.
The funding raised through your pledge will help with the expense of travel to Japan. I plan on taking a collection of my paintings which depict Surf Culture, Hawaiiana, Tikis, and the Sprit of Aloha. This series will be acrylic paintings on canvas, giclee reproductions, prints on sugar cane paper and a collection of skate, snow, and surfboards.
In addition to attending and participating in live painting at the Aloha Yokohama Hawaiian Festival with 9th Wave Gallery, I will also be privately painting what I see along the way. I hope to take home from Japan a feeling that we have contributed to the recovery efforts of a culture rich with history and arts that are as closely tied to the Pacific as mine are.
Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated and your help not only aids me in my goals, but will also help me lend my talents toward helping with the larger recovery efforts in Japan.
Please help me to realize my dream and create this reality.
Mahalo and Much ALOHA.
