About this project
As we arrive into the new year, I am happy to announce that I will be traveling to Japan in February of 2012. This will be my first trip to Japan and I hope to share the Spirit of Aloha with those affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
The anniversary of this disaster will soon be upon us, and now is the time to bring our Aloha and love to the Japanese people. There is still a lot of work to be done and many people in need, and I look at this as a great opportunity to share what I love about Hawaii and the Pacific with friends and strangers alike. I can not wait to see the Pacific Ocean from the shores of Japan.
The pieces I plan on taking to Japan are included in a series which depict Surf Culture, Hawaiiana, Tikis, and the Sprit of Aloha. This series will be acrylic paintings on canvas, giclee reproductions, prints on sugar cane paper, and a collection of skate, snow, and surfboards. The funding raised through your pledge will help with the expense of airfare, lodging, painting materials, as well as the cost of the items I will be bringing to share with Japan.
While in Japan I will be privately painting what I see along the way as well as participating in live painting at an art show in Tokyo. I hope to take home from Japan a feeling that we have contributed to the recovery efforts and also to catch a glimpse of a culture rich with history and arts that are as closely tied to the Pacific as mine are.Any amount of donation is much appreciated and your help not only aids me in my goals, but will also help me lend my talents toward helping with the larger recovery efforts in Japan.
Please help me to realize my dream and create this reality.
Mahalo and Much ALOHA.
Here are a few examples of the Aloha I will be taking to Japan.
