About this project
A Mother’s Intuition (AMI Stories) is a collection of interviews of women with a variety of different experiences, telling stories of mental, spiritual and emotional growth during pregnancy. I believe that confidence is gained not when someone suppressed anxiety, doubt, or challenge, but when one is able to use these experiences to actually strengthen their belief in themself, and their world. Through AMI Stories I aim to grow the confidence of women in pregnancy, motherhood and life.
When I found out that I was pregnant with my first child, I felt an overwhelming flood of worries and anxieties about what I felt was a lack of knowledge about how to prepare for this life changing journey with holistic success, and how it would affect my then-current idea of myself.
Here is my Story:
After asking around my peers, I found that they were also anxious, for a variety of different reasons about the experience of or the concept of being pregnant. However, most did not know how to address these internal fears. In identifying this gap in cultural/community knowledge, I knew it was one too big to leave agape. I created AMI Stories to serve as thought starters to help women think through their own personal questions--questions whose answers will impact the rest of their lives.
It’s all going well, but I need some help...
I am shooting 10-12 stories with a dedicated videographer and editor, that all touch on different challenges and different realizations/growth experiences. I have shot three women, including myself, and need 9 more to finish.
This Kickstarter campaign is to raise money for the continuing production costs of the series. These costs include, but are not limited to equipment, travel, and post-production services.
It is my hope that these oral histories can contribute to someone else's growth. They will be packaged to be used as reflection and discussion starters for individuals and groups at home, in women’s centers and pregnancy groups.
Thanks for your support!
Risks and challenges
The risk is small. There is no risk of the video series not happening, but there is a potential risk of delays caused by production scheduling and/or post editing. I have discussed the timeline with my dedicated videographer/editor and we have both agreed to it.
If there are any delays, I can promise to communicate what is going on and keep you updated throughout the process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
