Why is your stretch goal so high?

We can complete the film for $25,000, but we will need to raise another $20,000 to be able to get a famous Hollywood actor or actress for the narration. This has nothing to do with the quality of the voice actor who we currently have, she's excellent (as you can hear in the trailer). But a high-profile Hollywood actor will bring more attention to the film and greatly increase the chances of getting a distributor. It will also cost a lot more money, not because actors are greedy but due to complex SAG union rules. We struggled with which path to take and ultimately decided to let the supporters (i.e., you all) decide. Honestly it will be a great, unique film either way.

What's a short film? Where would one see this kind of "short film"?

Unfortunately short films don't have the high profile or prestige of feature-length films, but that's changing. Short films are often more interesting and daring because they're made independently and rely on people like you to support them. For many years the main place you could see short film programs was film festivals. That's still true, but thanks to streaming services they're more accessible than ever (check out Wes Anderson's Netflix shorts including "The Rat Catcher," "The Swan," and "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar"). At the very least, it will screen at film festivals in America (and hopefully around the world). If we're lucky we might even be picked up by a distributor and appear on a streaming service. The more money we raise, the more likely we can!
