Having just previously completed my A2 Chemistry course one of the things I found the most difficult and most tedious was remembering the information about the complex ion's and their reactions; such as state, colour, and formula. There also wasn't many resources to help revise this information from other than a few revision tables.
So I made I have made it my goal over the summer to produce a simple revision game that will aid A2 Chemistry students in revising this information after previously teaching myself C# programming and getting a handle on using WPF, I did this both to provide a quick an easy revision game that chemistry students can have access to and also to develop and test my own programming skills. I only intend to release my program on Windows and at this moment I'm not looking into porting my app over to android or iOS.
Furthermore, the revision game will consist of a set of buttons that the user clicks each button will correspond to reagents added or a specific complex ion displayed in the middle of the application, as shown in the project image. I also will be supporting this application all through the school year adding requested features or changing present features based on user feedback I receive.
The revision game itself will be released completely free during the beginning of September, so that it will be available at the start of the new school year in the UK, this deadline will be easily achievable as development of the game is well under way.
Risks and challenges
One of the risks is that I may exceed my own programming capabilities when developing the game which could halt its progress, I am overcoming this by using the funds I have asked for to buy resources to improve my own programming capabilities.
Another risk of this project is that due to the really specific target audience that I'm aiming the application at the application itself might not even gain a user base, I intend to to overcome this issue by choosing my places of marketing the application carefully and will be choosing places to market my app that are frequently visited by UK students.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
