Hello there. I'm James Low, and welcome to my Kickstarter page.
In the fall of 2010, I put together a new band, "The James Low Western Front" with some very talented, good friends in Portland, Oregon (Tim Huggins, Dave Camp, and Joe Mengis). We spent the rest of the year writing new songs (and re-working old songs) for our debut album. The real fun began in the spring of 2011 when we started cutting the basic tracks at Portland's fabulous Jackpot! Recording Studios (with super-engineer Kendra Lynn, and producer-extraordinaire Mike Coykendall).
We ended up with nearly two albums worth of material—-but two very different albums. The 8 songs that make up "Whiskey Farmer" are songs that just had to be together. They combine to form a country folk album that listens like a book of short stories. Think of a more whimsical, musical Raymond Carver.
While we are nearly done with the
recording of these songs, there is still a lot of work to do. Once
you've made the nearly perfect baby, you want to put her in a pretty
dress (artwork is being created by the insanely talented Joan Hiller),
and you want her have one hell of a coming out party (Mastering, CD
duplication, publicity and the like).
The album won't be officially released until February of 2012 so this is your only chance to get a copy in time for the Holidays.
Thank you in advance for your help in making this Kickstarter project successful. We have had the time of our lives creating this vision and are excited for you to be a part of it.
