The continued adventures of agents Max and Miranda as they attempt to save Earth and each other. Sequel to Tritium Gambit.
Mercury's Curse is the sequel to Tritium Gambit. Max and Miranda continue their work as agents for the Intergalactic Secret Service, a job that frequently ends in death, dismemberment, and smells you can't wash off.
On this mission, Max and Miranda are sent to a Chicago mansion to attend the unveiling of a new technology. What begins as a whodunit, turns into Miranda's quest to save her partner, and best friend, Max.
Where Tritium Gambit was focused on Max and his thoughts, this story spends time exploring Miranda's feelings towards Max, her deadly job, and Marcus--the gazillionaire playboy who doesn't need to be chased by ten-foot-tall, indestructible aliens before he goes swimming.
Note on digital formats: You will be given the opportunity to select one or more of the digital formats to receive through email. If you have a Kindle, you'll be able to read mobi and pdf files. (The book can even be directly sent to your Kindle if you know the Amazon email address tied to your account.) If you have a Nook or iPad, you may prefer getting the epub format. If you are uncertain send me a message or select them all.
The $1 through $3 rewards will land you an ebook through the email for less than most books you'll find on Amazon. The only difference in the rewards is availability, so grab a cheap copy while they are available! Expect this reward to be delivered around the January timeframe.
The $4 reward has unlimited availability and offers backers both books in the Max and Miranda series as a special edition ebook, Tritium Gambit and Mercury's Curse. Like the other digital rewards, expect this reward to be delivered around the January timeframe.
The $10 through $12 rewards will earn you a signed paperback book in addition to the ebook. Again, the different is strictly availability. The paperbacks take longer to produce. (First they need a different format than the digital book that takes considerable time and then there's the matter of ordering proofs, checking them, and reordering them.) I believe it took roughly a month longer to release the paperback edition of Tritium Gambit, and you can plan for a similar timeframe for Mercury's Curse. You can still expect the ebook as soon as it is available and have the option of selecting the special edition ebook that combines both Tritium Gambit and Mercury's Curse.
The $20 reward earns you two signed paperbacks, Tritium Gambit and Mercury's Curse, plus the special edition combined ebook. I'm offering unlimited availability to give people a chance to read both books in the series. Digital editions will be sent through email around January and the paperbacks will be sent out around February.
The $25 reward is identically to the $10 through $12 rewards with the exception being that I'll ship the book anywhere the USPS will deliver. Like the $10 reward, the special edition ebook with Tritium Gambit and Mercury's Curse will be sent as soon as it is available.
WORKING TOWARD THE GOAL
Writing Tritium Gambit is one of my most treasured accomplishments, and seeing it briefly break into the top 100 paid best sellers list in Amazon's Science Fiction Adventure category was an amazing feeling. However, writing the book was only the first half of the challenge. Publishing a story requires money for cover art, editing, proofreading, and even legal advice. I am now continuing this amazing journey with Max and Miranda and hope you will join me.
The first draft of Mercury's Curse is complete, and now I'm at the stage of making revisions. My editor expects the book on his desk November 1st. Between editing and proofreading, the final product should be ready around December or January. That's roughly the same timeline that my first book followed.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
A writing project's greatest risk is that the writer must be able to finish. Short of being permanently incapacitated, this project will be completed, but it is possible that there could be delays. I finished the first draft of Tritium Gambit in six weeks and that was the greatest hurdle. I've already finished the first draft of Mercury's Curse. I'm tenacious and expect to finish making revisions within the next few weeks at most.
The mobi file format is the native Kindle format that works best, but you could also upload a pdf.
The epub format works with Nook.
