Check out the video above to get an idea of what this project is all about.
I am in the final stages of opening a new Market Deli in Missoula, Montana called Market on Front. So jump on the pledging bandwagon to help fund our project in exchange for awesome rewards. It is an ambitious project, but with your help we will make it happen. It's amazing what passion, hard work, and community support can accomplish, especially when great food, wine and beers are involved. I created this Kickstarter page to inform people of my project and to make it easy to support this project.
What is Kickstarter? Kickstarter is a way to fund creative projects through crowd funding. Essentially, you (yeah you) pledge funds to help develop and open the Market on Front and we give you cool stuff in return. Divert your eyes to the right.
When I reach my fundraising goal of $25,000, you get the cool stuff and we get the financial support needed to complete this project. If I don't reach the goal, you don't lose any money (or get any cool stuff – it’s an all or nothing relationship). Help me raise more than the target ($25k), so keep pledging and spread the word, I can’t do this without you! Money raised through Kickstarter will primarily be used to purchase equipment and appliances to cook up some delicious food.
What is this Market Deli concept? Market on Front will offer a variety of chef-inspired prepared foods, sandwiches, salads and soups, in which a majority of the ingredients are natural or organic and as many as possible are locally grown. The Market will also offer natural and/or organic grocery items, again, with a strong emphasis on buying from local and regional producers whose products meet our quality standards. Market on Front will also be cognizant about dietary specific needs by catering to gluten friendly, vegetarian, vegan or paleo guests. Check out our website for more.
Market on Front is located in the heart of downtown Missoula, Montana. We’re situated just walking, jogging, or paddling distance from unbelievable rivers, mountains and trails, not to mention a short stroll to theaters, entertainment venues, outdoor pavillions and kayaking waves. However, there are few downtown options for grab-and-go prepared meals or grocery items. The Market will fill the gap and capture the growing number of customers in smaller towns like Missoula by providing a beautiful and encompassing marketplace for people to gather and enjoy great food. By creating this collaborative market, we will be a part of growing our local community for active locals and visitors alike.
Along with the charm of this new space comes an abundance of improvements. Currently the shell is completely empty, a concrete bunker if you will. That means we need to purchase everything from lighting fixtures and kitchen equipment to seating and food display cases, not to mention insulating the floors, walls and ceiling, and the construction, plumbing and electrical work required to bring this building up to a standard that can accommodate the needs of a truly awesome Market Deli.
I created this Kickstarter campaign to help fund the final push to open the Market and to get friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances and local food lovers involved through a sense of collaborative ownership. By funding the project this way, I can personally meet, thank and celebrate with everyone who becomes a backer.
This is a HUGE project. I've personally invested my own savings in the Market as have many of my closest family and friends, but I need a bit more to reach the finish line!
Help me make Missoula an even healthier, more locally-focused community by supporting this project today. I look forward to thanking you in person!
*Many thanks are in order for putting this campaign together, including Kenneth Furrow for his videographer mastery skills and Erin Stoner for all her hard work.
Risks and challenges
Market on Front is a project that has taken two years to bring to fruition. Over these few years I have built an amazing board to help mitigate certain risks and challenges. This project has encountered and overcome a number of obstacles such as production delays to building code issues and because of my experienced board we have been able to overcome the challenges.
Additional risks and challenges:
Although the organic and natural food industry growth is projected to be rapidly increasing over the next few years, there is a chance that the forecasts could be wrong. If our customers revert away from the organic or natural food demand our sales would be affected.
Market on Front took a very conservative approach when forecasting growth; even if the industry doesn't expand as forecasted our conservative growth projections are minimal compared to growth in other comparable stores. Based on our research organic or natural food demand is gaining momentum and popularity. Missoula has a population that demands fast, casual, healthy food products. The Market will also offer select revenue streams that are not affected by natural food trends.
