Sashi, the Scared Little Sheltie is the true story of a wonderful herding dog who loses her home because she herds (chases) everything. Her owners do not understand this and do not train her, deciding instead to leave her at a shelter.
This is true of so many dogs who lose their homes for behavior issues. My book will tell Sashi’s story in a gentle way, emphasizing training and responsible pet ownership. There will be an information page for the adult reader about rescue in general and shelties in particular.
A portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to sheltie rescue.

Risks and challenges
The costs involved in a self-published book are steep. You need to find/pay your illustrator (I have a contract with Morgan Spicer of Bark Point Studios), you need to pay to have your book edited to ensure there are no typo or punctuation errors and there are also costs for putting the manuscript and the illustrations together with appropriate fonts, etc. (book will be produced by Brown Books Kids division of Brown Books Publishing Group). Once all edits and creative are finished, the book goes to print .... more costs.
My request for funding is, in fact, quite modest.
This book is a labor of love and also a long-term commitment, as I intend to create a series telling of our experiences with various shelties we have fostered over the years.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
