The Spider Hole - To The Monsters (New CD & Graphic Novel)
The Spider Hole returns with "To The Monsters," an ode to Halloween, Weird Fiction, and Timeless Horrors.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Tue, November 6 2018 3:44 AM UTC +00:00.
THE SPIDER HOLE is back.
After four years of great loss, love, and luck, we are returning with a new lineup, a new producer, a new sound, and two incredible new projects: A full-length CD, and an accompanying graphic novel. This is THE SPIDER HOLE as it was always meant to be. Darker. Heavier. Deeper. And weirder. Much, much weirder.
Your support not only ensures that these projects see completion and release, but also gets you access to incredible deals on items and experiences entirely unique to this Kickstarter campaign.
TO THE MONSTERS, our third full-length CD, is an ode to Halloween, weird fiction, and timeless horrors. Featuring eleven brand new tracks devoted to the spectrum of things that go bump in the night, this themed album is at turns whimsical, unsettling, and terrifying. TO THE MONSTERS is produced by rising legend Jeffrey Robens, Jr., and showcases a new direction for the band, one marked by heavier hooks, dark synthetic pulses, strange structural shifts, and unrestrained vocals.
For old fans of The Spider Hole, this album fulfills the promise of our earlier work; for new fans, you have joined us at a most peculiar and exciting time.
Old or new, we welcome you to the show, to the wonder... To the Monsters.
Do you like comic books? Do you like Monsters? Then have we got something for you! Since the very inception of the band, plans for bizarre illustrated adventures featuring The Spider Hole have been in play. At long last, we are pleased to present our first complete graphic novel, "To the Monsters," a 100-page, full-color, thematic accompaniment to the new CD.
This oversize 8x10 horror anthology book includes four original tales written and illustrated by singer Ethan Scott, each in its own unique style, and each focusing on a different bandmate's circumstances over the course of one fateful Halloween night.
ROAD DEVIL - The interstate. The long black ribbon. The slab. Drummer Bobby Blades is on a desolate road trip to terror, and you're invited along for the ride. After witnessing a fatal accident, Bobby Blades is left questioning his sanity. Is he just overtired, or did he really see a monster with horns and glowing eyes driving that car before it crashed?
SAIL HATIN' - Guitarist Aaron Kilen does not like going on the water. Lakes, rivers, oceans, you can keep 'em! But when the alluring daughter of a powerful music mogul invites him to a private island to party with her satanic sisters on Halloween night, he decides it's time to face down his fears. At this wicked party, however, the roiling sea will be the least of his worries.
THE MAN WITH THE SPIRAL EYES - The murders are random, brutal, and strangely flamboyant. The clues are indisputable. The police are closing in. But bassist Xerxes Quinn is innocent, damn you, and he can prove it... can't he? Is The Man with the Spiral Eyes just a psychopath who has fixated on Xerxes, or is he somehow a shade of the man himself?
THE GOAT-WITCH OF CORNMAN ROAD - Singer Ethan Scott knows how far he can drive after the gas gauge dings. Unfortunately, this Halloween night, it is not far enough. Lost and stranded, facing endless farmland in either direction, Ethan is offered help by The Corman Family. Simple, mannered, and hospitable, the only thing the Cormans like more than telling stories about their family's gory legacy, is adding to it.
Hosted by horror-punk legends The Mission Creeps, the "To the Monsters" graphic novel will satisfy fans of Thomas Ligotti, Robert W. Chambers, The Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt, and weird horror of every stripe.
We wanted something special, something truly outstanding, to offer our valued Kickstarter backers. Available ONLY through this campaign, the upgraded Deluxe "To the Monsters" 8x10 HARDCOVER graphic novel is a grotesque and beautiful monument to madness.
-Black linen hardcover with tight, laminated, full-print dust jacket
-Crisp, vibrant archival inks
-Thick, 140# Mohawk Gloss Proline Pearl coated paper
-Durable library binding
-and FOUR additional fearsome fables of the bizarre!
That's right, the Hardcover Deluxe edition includes four extra stories! Written by Ethan Scott and created by re-purposing and recoloring vintage art sourced from public-domain horror comics from the 50s and 60s, these four retro terror tales are a vulgar, surreal, and ridiculous way to cleanse your palette after choking down the gamey offerings at the front of the book.
The Deluxe "To the Monsters" hardcover graphic novel is offered at the $100 "Monster Deluxe" level, or can be acquired as a $50 upgrade at any reward level $25 and up (see ADD ONs below for details).

Now let's look at some of the more peculiar and unique rewards we've brewed up in our cauldron of chaos.

We will collect info on your choices during the survey phase after the close of the campaign. You can add items at any time even after your initial pledge by selecting "Manage My Pledge."
By reaching our bare minimum funding goal of $3,000, we will be able to finish, manufacture, and deliver our new CD and Graphic Novel. But there is so much more we want to do, so much more we want to share. Enter: Stretch Goals! These stretch goals, if met, will open up new vistas of horror that will benefit all backers. So help us spread the word; the more we raise, the more everyone gets.
Risks and challenges
This project is a huge undertaking, no doubt, and every piece of it does indeed feel like a race to the finish. The biggest risk here is not whether the entirety of the project will get done, it is whether it will get done on TIME. The comic is written and 75 percent of the art is done. The album is written and half recorded. Funds from this campaign will help pay for the remainder of recording, plus physical production of both the album and the graphic novel. If it is not done by January as projected, it will be done by Spring the latest. (But really, that's absurd). Everyone involved in the album and the book is thoroughly committed to seeing these through to the end.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
