The idea came to me when I didn't have enough money to pay the cashier for another 3 packets of candles. I've been buying tea candles for years. We didn't like the smoke they produce, but my family and friends loved the lighting decoration.
The motivation came when I had to throw out a trashcan worth of used candles after a barbecue dinner. I wanted a candlelight that can be reused over the years, one that doesn't spill hot wax when I have to move it, one that I wouldn't have to worry about for causing fire hazards, one that floats prettily on water for romantic events, and most importantly, one that's more than a candlelight.
The foci of the design are Conveniency, Versatility, and Expansibility.

Penny-sized Neodymium Magnets - the highest grade rare-earth magnets - with Silicon film on the inside to increase the grip on fabrics and surfaces. The straps can be easily detached and attached. These magnet help Mogics light to mount on non-metallic surfaces or achieve an even more solid grip on magnetic surfaces (e.g. Bicycle headlight/taillight).
The smaller-than-dime-sized metal disc sticker will be given out for free with Mogics Light for Kickstarter backers. Any possible residue of the tape can be easily and safely removed with alcohol. Rest assured that the tape will not be able to harm the surface.
Production Plan: We have successfully passed the Engineering Validation Test and Design Verification Test, now in the process of tooling. We have carefully selected an overseas manufacturer for tooling. Our team will be in the factory for the Pilot Validation Test which starts in early March. 100 units will be put through the trial run. Upon completion of a successful Kickstarter campaign, we will be able to start mass producing in April.
Risks and challenges
Due to the particularly small size of the Mogics Light, we had to use small components and figure out ways to integrate everything to optimise the design.
To minimize the defection rate during mass production upon successful Kickstarter campaign will require high skills and immense patience. To achieve entire PCB waterproof was also a big challenge during the prototype production testing; fortunately, the result came out triumphant.
Our team has a very strong background for design for manufacturing. We have the parts sourcing, manufacturing flow and testing procedures well defined. If the demand is high, we will be able to scale production and logistics accordingly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
