About this project
Why Flatlands Coffee
World-class, sweet, complex, aromatic coffees that can fixate your thoughts long after consumption, have recently gained attention in the market... termed "3rd wave."
Flatlands Coffee will be the first to bring 3rd wave coffee to this part of Ohio and will able to add to the 3rd wave industry by bringing in more experimentation and new ideas on coffee shop functionality to reach a better end result - the best experience.
Flatlands Coffee has the research and experience to produce the highest-quality, hand-crafted coffees, for an authentic coffee experience. We have already invested in our employee training lab where we have practiced and experimented with 14 brewing methods, while also acquiring training from the best around the country. (This dedication to experimentation has even gained us a request to experiment with the Impress before market release... and we like it a lot!). We also have been able to tour several top-rated coffee shops around the country to pick up more ideas.
...we have been planning this business for 6 years, so we have had time to put attention in every little detail.
Haha, yes! Do not forget tea! We have done extensive research to find the highest-quality teas. The same way we focus on experimentation in coffee, we will bring to tea for an authentic experience.
Why Bowling Green, OH
Bowling Green is a progressive college town with immense potential. Overall, Bowling Green has a unique community that is friendly and down-to-earth, but is limited in creative spaces. There are also lots of artists in the area that we believe will like our atmosphere. We hope to create an eye-popping storefront and interior design that will add to downtown Bowling Green. We have already found the perfect space!
We Need Your Help
We are asking for only a fraction of our total startup costs, as we may take out loans to cover the rest. However, we can only achieve this with your help.
How to Help
1. Spreading the word about this campaign (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.)
2. Asking others to spread the word
3. Donating to make this a reality! ...every bit counts!
Most of these outstanding rewards come from skilled, local artists who also support Flatlands Coffee - so your contribution not only helps Flatlands Coffee, but extends deeper into others' dreams within the community as well!
...and FREE SHIPPING!!!!
Once this project succeeds, we will contact you for the necessary information (i.e. shipping address, shirt size, etc).
**SPECIAL NOTE** The video says "this fall," however, we are now hoping to open winter/early spring
Risks and challenges
There are a few milestones Flatlands Coffee must face to reach success. The initial milestone is to gain funding to properly launch the business, which is why we need your your help! Then we must hope for no delay in build-out, which we won't know until we get in there (unexpected things can always arise in this stage, but we are working with a well-experienced contractor that is working to minimize such an event as much as possible.) Then, we must quickly establish a customer base through marketing and maintain cash flow. With our large group of consultants and Ben's business background, we are sure to overcome such hurdles.

You are not charged until the successful completion of the campaign. If the project is still live and you see a charge on your bank statement, it is simply an authorization of funds. However, no charges are made until the successful project has ended.
P.S. Thank you for the donation!!
My wife and I are right out of college and unfortunately do not have collateral to take out major loans to fund our project. We have invested and are investing as much as we can... we already have a complete training lab!
Our Kickstarter funds can be used as collateral to take out such loans necessary to launch this dream.
Also, we do not actually receive the full $60,000 due to fees from Kickstarter and the credit card processor, Amazon. We also will use some of the money to purchase the rewards we are giving to our backers.
Thank you for helping us get there!
Flatlands will use one primary roaster, but will also buy beans from other roasters, since that will allow access to high-quality beans from different farms and give customers the ability to experience different roasting styles.
Our primary roaster has extreme dedication to quality and has unique relationships with world-renowned farms. We will be disclosing our primary roaster at our pre-opening party - hope to see you there!
Luckily, corporate coffee chains have already conditioned everyone to pay roughly the same prices that we will be charging... except at Flatlands Coffee, you will be getting the highest quality!
